Hockey is in good hands obviously. No other sports have this kind of argue, which I find really healthy by the way. My 2 cents as a so called "step-mother" (i am a former NT GM in hockey) is that we should train good assistant and let them lead after a while. Make sure you always have an assist and tha he cares. This way we increase our odds of having competent-caring people. It does not take long to loose everythyng we built, chemistry and players database.

Finally, Paul, Samuel, it is good to ear your arguments abd at the end, just hope the canadian managers will do the right choice. I love you both very much as canadian GM, so you give us a really though choice. Go Canada!

I make strenuous objection to this statement, as I am sure the others you refer to do!
None of us took these positions by force!
Most of us do not personally know each other.
We all came by the same route.
We gained credibility as league managers by fielding competitive teams.
We gained exposure through voicing our opinions on various forums.
We gained the confidence and respect of the few who actually vote.
We gained GM experience by being an assisstant GM.
We put our names in as a candidate for the position.
We got more votes than the other candidates, if there were any.
We worked hard to show that our supporters had made a good choice.
In other words, we became involoved!
And that is how we hold onto these positions.
Not by some cliquish force.
IMO, none of us should step down. It would be disrespectful to the people who voted for us!
Anyone who wants one of these positions will have to get it the same way we did.
Put in the effort.
Put in their name.
Get more votes.
I work hard at all my positions, and might resent the fact that you appear to think my hard work is not part of, nor should contribute to my success!
These positions are no handed out in a lottery draw!
They require hard work and commitment!

I am not sure what you mean by "Get more votes". If that includes you sending my 11 year old daughter an email instructing her how to place her vote then I think that is a pretty iffy way of doing so. I was kind of disappointed that I didn't get one of those tutorials as well but I guess those only get sent to children or other GM's that don't understand the system very well. It is kind of awkward to explain to an 11 year old what "influencing someone's vote" actually means...

I tried to cancel my candidacy earlier today but the game wouldn't let me. I really don't want to get my hands any dirtier than they already are.

This is the email to which paulroedb refers. I t was sent out to active managers I felt might not have voted yet.
I see no invitation to "vote for me" . I see no specific reference even to any particular election I am running in.
As of now, elections are being run in both hockey and basketball only.
In light of the fact that this set of electcions seems to have generated more participant interest than in the past, it was merely an attempt to encourage more voters to vote, not an invitation to "vote for me"!
No specific sport is even mentioned.

Nobody reads these posts. Only you guys and me. We will just highlight the following sentence -

And ask what this has to do with the voting process. I would like to know why I didn't get one. I noticed that the email showed up with you behind in the voting. It seems to have done the job or perhaps it is just coincidence. You should send out helpful reminders to potential voters when you are winning the election. I don't remember any voting lessons then...

Again, there is no problem, because nobody reads these. You can say whatever you want and nobody cares. We just would like a bit of consistency with your emailing list. I can't see why you would only want to get in contact with certain voters. Maybe it was just an oversight...

The motivation behind the email, was purely to increase the number of managers who would vote.
I was hoping it would promote more active involvement in the game.
It would seem to have been unsuccessful. as we still have only about 30 recorded votes for any one position, out of a possible 150 (approximate).

These are two things I always check before voting, unless I am already aware of them.
Experience gives me some indication of how long a player has been in the game and therefore his/her level of understanding of the game.
Trophies and awards suggests their level of success in the game, and therefore an insight into how successful they might be as our national GM.

I don't believe anyone already running for a position, or anyone who regularly contributes to the forums was sent the email.
I assumed, maybe erroneously, that by being that involved in the game, they needed no reminder that elections in two sports were going on.

There is no relevance!! I was merely being sociable, and thoroughly resent your unwarranted dark implications.

Point 2 - I will take your word on that.
Point 3 - My daughter is not interested in your sociability. She understands that when someone introduces themselves at time of want, this is someone you don't want to know.
Point 1 - Your explanation is laughable. Displayed trophies and awards shows whether or not you have a propack. If you don't pay the money, you can't show off your jewels. You have one; Dom Rochon doesn't. Anyone who has played this game for a long time knows that. Only the children and the newbies don't. Simple common sense from your email is to say to those that you should vote for the guy who has more colourful icons next to their name. Maybe you should go research how many Dom Rochon actually has won and include them in your next email to be fair to the people that don't understand how the display page works. He probably has more than you.
You seem to take me for a fool and to treat my daughter in the same manner is extra insulting. Go hoodwink others - you might want to consider running for real office.
