Just got my 1st 400 OR player. I'm not into spending millions in the market, esp. since I don't really have it. But what my players lack in OR they make up for in experience and chemistry.
See, this is exactly what I mean. draco hasn't been playing longer than me but his team strength is a full 12 pts ahead of my team. And his facilities are better than mine. I think the past season and a half of my training blunders have really hurt my team. Hopefully the new plan will get me back on track with my peers.
Spending a lot on the market is totally necessary. I'm only playing 3 foreign players (everyone else was raised in my team), and none of them were that expensive. Additionally, all of my staff members were directly pulled.
I think investing in facilities is by far more important. Because of the money I put into my youth school and Training/Regen, I have been able to pull great players and train them very quickly.

You're not really hurting your team. Maybe in the short term, but those attributes had to be trained eventually. It'll be easy to fix by training the primaries in most cases. That's what I keep telling myself=)
I agree with SamuriFish, assuming he mean to say 'unnecessary'
I've gone over 1M only two or three times. I know I spent 2M on an RD and 13M on the goalie. I'm not totally against it (I still need to find some good d-men), but it's not necessary.
Things might be different once you get into I.1. I don't know. That doesn't really matter anyway. The top teams in I.1 are set for the next decade. We won't be making up any ground on those teams until we're maxing out our OTR.
I avoid buying staff as well. Heck, I avoid looking at my own staff. Eff those guys. I don't even pull them anymore. Never get anyone good enough, and the bad ones aren't worth selling or firing. I might check my guys once or twice a month just to change training to keep them balanced so their salaries aren't ridiculous.

Yes, somehow the 'un' disappeared.
I've pulled some pretty decent staff as well, and I feel like they're decently important to overall team development.

You need some quality lecturers at the very least to ensure you can train your staff. Why not give staff the same chance to develop as your players, they cost more per person.
I would happily kill every one of my staff. Slowly. I hate those guys. I don't know why, but I hate those guys. I only have a handful with 50+ in any attribute, and I have no interest in upgrading them. Eventually someone will retire. That'll probably be the next time I go looking for staff.
That's probably not the best way to handle the situation.

Ha. We both picked Defensive and that was a very defensive game. Until the 3rd anyway. Going into it, shots were 9-11. I don't know if I've ever had a game like that.
Was pretty wild, I thought I had a chance but your guys poured it on in the third even without a motivation change. Good game!
I thought I made a motivation change, too
The game changed so much that I was worried about my tactics. I knew I had set some weird tactics, but I wasn't sure what the parameters were, or what motivation would change too. When I suddenly started getting a ton of shots in the 3rd, I was thinking I might have screwed something up and played on High.
I wonder what changed. How is your player energy? It's probably too early in the season for it to have an effect, but it's the only thing that 'changed' during the game. My guys are at 98/99.

My energy is about the same, don't think that had an effect. Your team was the better team, I stuck it to you for two periods, but the odds caught up to my team in the third.
This game and others like it really give me confidence that all the suffering of last season while I converted to an overall training program will be worth it under the new ME. I overcompensated when converting my training last season, but the new plan should result in my team getting stronger as the season goes on.

You will know for certian when you get energy crash, when it sets in, your team strength drops through the floor!! As near as I can tell that happnes when you get to mid 70's, at least that is when i noticed it last 2 seasons.
