It's interesting. Your match is a clear case when you have right tactic and wrong importance, and mine is when you have right tactic, right importance but wrong strength of a goalie or I am a guest....donno.
In either way we have something wrong, it's just that we will never know what we are doing wrong.

Is this some sort of irony that Eeuolo made this topic and his two buddies got the most posts in it ?

Yep, and that's a pity. I like the structure of the game and the possibilities, but with this game engine it doesn't matter if your team is good or not...
If they do something about the game engine, they have a great manager game, now it's not about managing.

Sorry lads, but a game should not be based on a wheel of tactics.... the game would be ten-fold worse than it right now.
Everything would become predicable, everything would go stale...
In every sport, there are upsets.
In every season, some strong teams from the past struggle in the present.
When you lose to a supposed weaker opponent, it only makes you want to find out where you or your team went wrong, over and over again.
Whether your 2nd GK is terrible and is the main cause of shock defeats, as happened to me this season...
Or whether you need to work on tech and shooting for your 3rd and 4th lines more.
No, the engine isn't perfect, but take a step back and look at what you guys are looking for here...
Your looking for a complete formula that springs NO surprises..... this game will fail miserably if what is being requested here happens, mark my words.
Its not math, it shouldnt be about theorems...
Its a game, and no matter what you say, every dog has its day.... some more than others.

I have no problems with surprises, they are needed. But now, team strenght only helps very little to win a game, that's my problem. If good managing and a better team doesn't give you better average results, it's not a managing game in my opinion.
emerald, there are no data at hand to find out why you lose a match (or win one)...
and as stated, for sure there are upsets, deuh, every sport has, but there are simply too many upsets since the start of this season (get way too many SH goals against, not only me, this being one of many things that probably changed (without telling, or due to a "bugged ?" engine))

I agree on some points you've said, but.....when I lose 4 times in a row in a Nat. Cup, knowing that I have done my best to win those games (and done that by the book-been better), when I lose a game where is no revanch like CL or CWC, I want to know more than "it happens from time to time" thing.
I get impression that frequency of unfortunate losses cancels all my effort within my club, so there you have a reverse effect from making a game more realistic and interesting into a confusing machine which makes too many random results.

I beg to disagree, there is a lot of data available on finding out why you win and lose.
Analysis of tactics.
Working out what suits you in relation to what %'s to train primary and secondary, and also tertiary atty's.
Scouting opposition players, observing the results of their games and pinpointing weaknesses/patterns.
Comparison of team strength and individual strengths in each of your lines.
Of course, this all takes time and work, but for those willing to engage in such, they will prosper more than others.
Those are some ways to understand the game better, but like irl... even the most experienced managers will tell you they are still learning.
Unless you are the man that developed this game, then we'll never truly understand it.

Ok, I accept that 9 times outta 10, your team, being much stronger in most departments, should win the game. And maybe it would if you played the 10 games...
But I put the emphasis on the word "should". There are no guarantees.
Nothing is certain in this game, nor in life, except maybe death and taxes, but that's another topic for discussion somewhere else.
I think there's a very fine line between making this game go according to plan most of the time, and allowing the underdog win more than normal.
Realistically, there are just a handful of managers questioning the game engine in these threads, compared to the almost 300,000 registered people of PPM.
For PPM to change anything to suit a minute minority would be madness from a business and design perspective.
It would be helpful if we had exact figures of happiness/unhappiness about the game engine, but I dont think we'd ever see such.
I am somewhat aggrieved at results that have not gone my way this season, as well as last season and the one before, but its only a game, one I happen to enjoy quite a lot... but it can never replace real life competition in my eyes.

it's as if you think I don't know how my team performs ?
it doesn't perform as it should, I'm the tripple champion who didn't lose any playoff game untill last year's final (still managed all 3 in a row) so I think I can say I'm a good manager, no? I have taken into consideration what you said, tactics, shots, fouls, whatever, to me there's too few data in the summary (I follow every league game live, or in delay)
I think i'm experienced enough to know what works and what doesn't, I'm telling you, there's like 1/3 of random (strange) results in our league, that's a bit too much ...

My most efficient player has 24 shooting, my goalkeeper is the best one in belgium, but in statistics only on place 6, the one with most assists has 24 passing, my topscorer last season was one of my worst players, if u look at my games you see random is more important than team strenght,...
Player statistics are just random, game results are a lot about random, ring of countertactics is just unrealistic. There's nothing to analyse if the game engine isn't working propperly. It already took me a lot of time to analyse this, that's why I'm convinced the game engine should be much better.

No, Im not saying that at all...
What Im saying is that you dont know how other teams work...
Ok, you've been champion for 3 years or so, but the competition has never been as intense as it is now, mainly due to the better teams from the lower leagues reaching the top tiers.
When I seen the teams that got promoted to my league at the end of last season, I knew it was gonna be ultra tough.
Macabi Tel Aviv, a team with more or less the sae pedigree as your team, have had, by their standards, a mediocre season. They are in the top 3, but only because so many teams are taking points off each other.
I'd be pretty certain that most leagues around PPM are quite similar.
Most teams in the top leagues are now as busy arranging their teams as the guys who sat on top for the first few season of PPM hockey.
---------------------------------------------
In a nutshell, I dont think anything drastic has changed with the game engine.....
Its more to do with the quality of opposition teams and their managers.
