Where do you think all the prize money for stats and playoffs comes from.

I have had a look at the list of planned sports and thought this; there are some sports which aren't really bigger sports, for example handball, now i don't know how popular that sport is in more eastern europe, but in the UK and Spain especially, only a select few have any idea what the sport is about, so i was thinking, maybe a bigger sport, something more people have heard of? I thought maybe Rugby, as the potential for tactical thinking would be immense, you would have to look at the speed and handling of your backs, and the tackling, power and weight of the forwards, you would have to decide which players were best for each of the 15 positions on the pitch. but just a thought.

Great thinking Ollie, Im in complete agreement with you on this.

Handball and even volley-ball would not be what I'd consider populist sports whatsoever.

Rugby is a great shout, and I'd throw in American football too. Along the same lines, but with American football having so many fans worldwide it would be huge here.

I think this issue deserves a new thread all by itself if Im honest...

i do agree with rugby, but handball and volleyball are big sports in eastern europe. i am waiting for handball as for volleyball because i'm a volleyball plaayer....

Indeed, but if PPM want success they need to prioritize the internationally popular sports first. Hockey and Soccer are good first 2 sports... 3rd IMHO should be Basketball or Rugby.

This is a suggestion for the initial start for soccer. Start all teams in the same division, and then place the teams in their division based on how they perform. This would give everyone the same economics, and also an option to concentrate on performance or building for the future.

The format would vary with size of the country. For countries with up to 242 teams, there would be 11 leagues. Leagues would be filled horizontally, and latecomers would start with 0 points.

At the end of the initial season: 1st and 2nd place teams would form DI. 3rd-10th would form DII. Everyone else would be placed in DIII.

For countries up to 484 teams, there would be 22 leagues. 1st place forms DI. 2nd-5th to DII. 6th-21st DIII. 22nd to DIV.

For countries up to 968 teams there would be 44 leagues. At the end of the season there would be playoffs to determine some placements.

The 44 1st place teams would be paired off, with the winners going to DI, and the losers to DII.

DII would be comprised of 22 1st place teams, all 44 2nd place teams, and 22 3rd place teams (winners of playoff against another 3rd place team.

DIII would be comprised of 22 3rd place teams, 308 teams that finished 4th through 10th, and 22 11th place teams. Everyone else goes to DIV.

There are similar set ups for up to 1936, up to 3872, and up to 7744 teams.

Rugby is interritorial sport? Heheh very funny. Volleyball is much more popular among the world than rugby or American football. Take a look at structure of countries where current managers from. Countries mainly from Central Europe, where this sport is really marginal. I personally think that even with staff decision of developing this sport won't bring them success. I'm quite sure that in countries, where american football and/or rugby is popular have managers connected with them.

Let's not confuse rugby with American football. One is an international sport, the other is a bunch of steroid induced mean who are so scared of being hurt they have to wear padding!

Look at wide receiver or QB. You can hardly say, that they are steroid induced. They have to be quick not big.
I think one rugby player have more steroids than all wide receivers in one team together )

Sheesh it was said pretty much in jest... although, the whole padding thing is a joke IMO. We've had a few NFL players come down to Australia and be invited to train with our AFL players (who wear no padding at all) and the NFL players actually opt out for fear of being hurt. It's funny.

But yeah, i'm very familiar with the sport... not my fave sport in the world, but I get the strategy behind it.

I'll agree though QBs are quick, but that doesn't mean..

For handball you can only speak for UK, as for spain not to know what it is, second strongest leage in the world, Ciudad Real top team in europe after Barcelonas dinasty of ruling it some years ago i dont think so.

But no need to flame each other, they have registered managers for every sport and by the looks of it the formula is the next one wanted, numbers are speaking for them self, altho i dont know how are they going to make it look like and they would need to create a new "match engine".

Yeah and Jackson Richardson, Handball's God was playing in Spain for a long time...

When it comes to sport, I consider myself quite knowledgeable and can easily hold a conversation about most of them, the ones I have no idea about include handball, volleyball and biathlon.

These sports may be famous in Eastern Europe, but that doesn't make it world-renowned now does it?

Volleyball itself is quite popular around the world, but others such as Golf, Cricket and table tennis are much more well known and played sports.

The examples above, Rugby & Grid-iron may not be as popular, but the mechanics behind managing such teams would make for an excellent management sim in my opinion.

There are so many skills and different type players to train up, I think both would be very good on PPM.

Just my thoughts however...

Handball, volleyball and biathlon are olympic sports ! It's hard to believe that you don't know anything 'bout them ! (Rugby and American Football are not)
As far as I know, these sports are not popular only in Eastern Europe ! For example:

1.Handball - This sport has his origins in medieval France, but it was played in Denmark, Czech Republik, Slovakia, Germany and even in Uruguay.
France won the last men's WC.
(IMO, this sport is very popular in nordic countries: Sweden, Denmark, Norway)

2. Volleyball - has it's origins in US (Massachusetts).
Best teams: Brazil, Russia, Cuba (women), Italy, Japan (women).

3. Biathlon - nordic sport. Has it's origins in Norway (training exercise for soldiers). Best countries: Russia, Germany, Norway, France.

Yes, Ive heard of all these sports, but the Olympic games comes around ONLY every 4 years.

These sports that PPM have lined up may prove popular only because they are in the choices given.
I cant imagine Tennis is going to be great personally, because Im more interested in the team sports more than the individual ones.
