2nd one is the worst in mu opinion, but let's see what Vlady will tell us about it...
I havent tried all that much, but in you take consider all things said in the Forums, I think that 2nd one is more penalized.
being 1 more does alot for possesion, I played at CM and we often used a 451/433 formation depending how you look at it.. when we where 3 cm against 2 we just played around them so easy..
With current player ratings you can't get 15% more in midfield possession, if there is not penalties
There are loads of borderline formations we don't know if they are penalized or not. Until we can get to know that, we'll be playing as a blind...
And penalizations, have they only influence on possession, or also on chances in favor -less taken, less on target, less scored...- and against -more taken, more on target, mroe scored...-; faults/cards in favor and against, etc?
I keep on insisting we really need much more official info about this matter...

Ofc you can, irl 3cms completely crushes 2cm if they are somewhat equal
Ofc you can't (without drastic penalties) in PPM.
I think that we don't need any official statement about it, and also i think that we will not get it. The reason is simple - if you make just a little research you will get the info - it's simple just like that!
In real life you can, but in PPM, you can't (if there are penalties)...
I think you are wrong..
The match you are talking about; Mali Taš has on his right 12.68% vs 7.82%, at that place there is 1 SM from both teams, with Mali Taš having the better one. If you also ad the SD Mali Taš has even more power on that side.
How about the other side then? 11.45%vs3.49%, ofc since Mali Taš is the only team with a SM there. Taking SD into account Mali Taš is also there much better.
At centre, there are 3vs3 players and Mali Taš wins possesion with 8 to 6%. Could be explained by hometeam using a bad tactic with cautios for example.
So nothing strange here

Well I hope you are just spamming
It's about observing how mathematical (not RL) engine works - and in that match if I played with 3 midfielders with same marks (LM, CM , RM) - I would get more possession.
And for me it's not about penalties - because it's about adjustments - engine should have other mechanism to solve poor tactical solutions.

Novakoni already told you. If he played with all required positions he would win the match possession, in midfield, and since match possession in midfield is linked with other possessions it's obvious...
Yes leaving one side open makes possesion go down, very logical?
