Really, I don't know if all this guessing is helpful. Unless we have clear (!) evidence, it's obviously a matter of belief and interpretation.

To you serbian guys, we all know you are the masters of the ppm-verse but be patient with the rest of us.
So far I've just seen singled out games posted by novakoni and others. What would really be helpful (and at least convincing me) if one would play comparable games.
So, for example two games against the same opponent with the same tactics and everything, except that one team in the first match only plays one offensive midfielder on one side and in the second with a defensive forward instead. If then there are great changes in possession in other boxes, that would be really convincing.
Novakoni, did you do something like that?

Just one question for you:

4 players playing at CM (so 4 CMs) with ratings 16, 16, 14 and 13 playing against 3 CMs with ratings 16, 16 and 15 - also playing at home should win the CM possession battle?

Depends on tactics, players attributes distribution and positioning, theirs and the rest of the team players.

Style of Play: Normal in both halves for both teams
Match Importance: Both teams played on the same match importance
Tendency of attacks: Both teams played only through midfield (M is only ticked on)

Bear in mind that 1st team played at home, and I already calculated that home team advantage is 20%

Do you happen to play soccer? 2nd formation has more "where to pass to" and that can help a lot sometimes, even in ball possession at an outnumbered zone.

Actually I played when I was young at Sunday League in younger categories, but I don't talk about that. I talk about match engine mathematics!

Seems a natural outcome for me, given the way the teams played.

The away team had more "where to pass to" and home team had less "where to pass to", but naturally home team won it. Just listen yourself

You failed to see my point. It´s useless having "where to pass to" if you do not profit from that opportunity.

To spell the words, I mean away team should play on a LCR basis, not only C. I´m sure they would do better playing that way.

You focus your analysis on the absolute results, where, imo, the comparative analysis is the only important one.

That´s what makes the difference between using the "where to pass to" opportunity or not. That´s what makes the present GE so interesting.

You definitely misjudged the tactics option Tendency of attacks. It means if you have better CM area (for example) than you should play through middle because the bigger gain will be there.

20% of 10 is bigger gain, than 20% of 5.. it's obvious

This is all mathematics, nothing more, nothing less

BTW, does you know that your midfield % determines the opponents ones and vice versa? Also your midfield % and away team defence % determines your attack %?
Do you know the absolute numbers in PPM for all of these %? I know them, and I know what I saying. And all of these I found through a lot of research...

When one is studying a 100% summing distribution, an event probability is necessarily related to all the others. For the very simple fact that the sum is 100, they must have some correlation. That´s why one must be very carefull when trying to determine causation amongst them.

IzzaX, I´m sorry if I am not giving you the answers you expected. I just think different than you, as you see.

Anyway, you can't think different but the numbers doesn't lie. The max midfield % that one team can get is 50% and no one on this planet can't tell me that I'm wrong.

Anyway, I will stop this discussion, and will not trying to persuade anyone or to give any info I found, because people are nothing more than jealous.

Maybe you (we) guys should learn a thing or two from Izzax and novakoni. After all they got the best teams in the world. So dont discard their thoughts so lightly.

So you really want us to think as you do and know the game as you do? Then maybe you should try giving us a little bit more info on your research and HOW did you get to these conclusions.
Right now it seems like you may or may not know something and you're trying to force feed us with that info.

I agree, we as people tend to approach this game too logical and compare it to the RL and there we fail. This is a game made from numbers and that's all we should take in mind.

So maybe a bit more info no "how" and "why" instead of just "that's the way it is".

If opponent dont have any wingers on any side, using L+R is definatly the best way. In your words, if you LM+RM is better then opponent (they are 0) gain is biggest there.

And you did the same thing with possesion again, the away team have 1 more on midfield which gives more possesion. Very logical.
