The United States beat a strong Romanian team 5-1 today. Honestly, it must have been luck, since the United States had weaker goaltending and didn't dominate anywhere else. Even so next year's team looks very promising.
While many of the best players were on the ice for today's game, I haven't done a thorough search for players while the election is still pending. The team currently consists of last year's players and a few promising (but not necessarily the optimal) players from I.1 teams. Next year's team, though it should improve by next week's game, looks very promising, especially the first line. There isn't much of depth problem like there was last year at left wing and defense, though goaltending is at best equal to that of last year.
The United States now has a full schedule for next year (as do the majority of the teams, except for maybe Canada). The United States plays a challenging, but very beatable, Polish team next week.
I enjoyed managing the team this year and hope to get another to bring out the potential in the United States U18 National Team Program. Last year was just unlucky, but the United States clearly has the talent to move up to division I and eventually put up a strong challenge for the top division. If I am not back next year, then I would be happy to do whatever I can as an assistant for this or another national team, especially when it comes to the services of my scout.
Good luck in season 14!

I am going to try something new this season with regard to the home stadium. It seems that the home stadium chosen is only relevant to determining who gets the extra revenue from the game and that national team games don't usually get more than 12,000 or so fans.
With that in mind, every home game this season will be hosted by a different team. Any manager who wants to host a game should post on this thread. I will award the best stadiums that have not recently hosted any national team games the home games until there are none left. I'll set the minimum threshold at 8,000 seats or so.

The Squirrel Cage currently has 15,000
Will be up to 17,500 in 41 days. 20,000 in 91 days.
And since I'm down in III and won't be getting any sellouts for a while, most of the seats will be brand spanking new

I have 12900 seats. Wouldn't mind hosting. Would it mean I need to set my friendly to be an away game for that day?
cant believe i got that busy and didnt even have time to enjoy the world championship.
WOW!! 1 win! what happened Capsaicin? If i where you id fire your assistant.
Well, at least finished ahead of Argentina and for that i am happy

I was under the impression that the hosting team received nothing for use of their stadium.
Similar to tujague, my stadium is currently at 15,000 and will be at 20,000 in 89 days.

I thought I read something about somewhere about the hosting team gaining extra revenue. I was also under the impression that no team gets a home advantage (particularly the press center bonus) in national team games. There's nothing about it in the guide.
Tujague will host next week's game against Poland, so he can report back.

I'm not sure, but none of the Irresistible Force, Psychos, Razorback Thugs, and High Hitterz sent me an angry message about the World Championships conflicting with their schedules.
The United States was very unlucky, giving up last minute goals (one came off of a rebound from a shot on an open net), going into - I believe - 4 shootouts, playing 5 one goal games (and one two goal loss against Switzerland), and failing to win despite dominating in possession, shots, faceoffs, penalties, etc. The last loss against Ireland, I basically focused on giving the younger players experience since the United States was already eliminated. Switzerland was clearly the strongest team, and Belgium only needed to score 2 goals to come out of a game with points due to their goaltending. I discussed everything in detail a little while back.
We will see the relative strengths of the teams in season 14 in a week, but Canada and Slovenia should provide a challenge.

it doesn't interfere with the schedule and I don't think the hosting team gets any extra revenue out of it - but bigger stadiums will usually get you more fans so more $$$ per player that way
Don't bother changing the venue every week Cap. The host doesn't get anything. The only money one gets is if one's player plays (or gets called up, not sure about that.) So stick to the biggest stadium because you'll draw more.
The host should get something.
It seems that managers with players "in the national team" get a share of the revenue. I just need someone to define "in" for me.
Too bad. It would have been an interesting idea.
