The U.S. U18 national team won 5-4 against Romania today. It was a very close back and forth affair. The U.S. managed to keep penalties down to 1, shutting down the opposition on the power play as usual. Special teams even managed to score an important shorthanded goal.

All of the starters were dressed for the game. The backup started again due to chemsitry considerations.

The U.S. goes into its final exhibition match against a comparable Italian squad with a 10-1 record against U18 teams in exhibition games, the only loss coming from a 5-4 game against Denmark.

In two weeks, the U.S. will start its bid to promote. The World Championships will take place, for what I believe to be the first time, in the United States. It should become official tomorrow. The U.S. will start off its first game with the most important match of the tournament against Switzerland. This match could very well determine who ends up in first place on the first day of the tournament. I believe that we have a very good team this year and look forward to the tournament.

Gallant ultimately sold for 275 million! His new team has great facilities to develop him (the team better have good facilities at that price).

The U.S. U18 National Team lost to Italy today, bringing its final exhibition record to 10-2. It was a close back-and-forth game until Italy ran away with the game in the third period. The U.S. dominated in the faceoff circle and, though it took 4 penalties, it did not give up any powerplay goals. While the U.S. didn't score on either of its two powerplay chances, we converted on a delayed penalty early in the game.

camp this week

Thank you for the notice!

For anybody considering a camp this week, I probably won't be taking any starters out of the lineup next week during the World Championships (unless I have an equivalent substitute with comparable chemistry). The scratched players will be the players that would constitute the fifth best line who have taken the place of injured or training players over the course of the season (rather than the best prospects not on the team).

Apparently I can choose the venue and time (19:00 or 19:30) for each game in the tournament.

Camp this week for me too.

Thanks for the notice. I probably won't need to play Lance, McKinney, Dwyer, or Brackett, though I will need the latter 3 in case of an injury or to deal with energy considerations.

Feel free to use them if you need them, the training difference between camp and national call-up isn't that much for only one day with my facilities.

The World Championships start today. The United States begins its journey to try to promote to Division I. There will be a new game every day. All of the top players are in the lineup (and probably locked into it for the duration). The first opponent will be Switzerland.

Somehow, 18/28 of the roster is in camp. That must be a record.
