Does anyone know why we cannot use our 4th line players on the PP or PK?
Just the way the game engine is set up.
Any chance that will change in the future? Or have they said elsewhere that they can't do anything about it?
Would require complete re-gearing of engine. Perhaps, but not for awhile.
Not a chance. I pushed for it in seasons 3 and 4 and it was shot down. It makes zero sense, but that's the way they made the game and there is no desire to change it.
Any idea if that is in their long term plans? Designing a hockey engine around three lines seems a little odd. The simplest fix would be to not allow a three line only lineup. If any team wants to run only three lines, allow them to set the minutes to 0 for the forth (or any) line. I am sure it sounds easier than it is... curious to know if they plan to address it at some point in the future, or if they are happy with the game as is.
In the powerplay tactic Umbrella, which position is the shooter from the point designated as?
Roll the dice. No clue, don't think that is in the GE either.
If it wasn't for that one aspect, I'd choose that tactic. I think there's a bit of an advantage to shooting from the point, as you can be sure of the positions. Same goes for the two box tactics on PK.
You're giving the game engine too much credit. I think the actual choice is as random as A, B, or C and that there is a weight attached based on a) the practised efficiency, and b) whether it wins, loses, or is neutral in the game of rock, paper, scissors.
