we also have cameras, but judges are technological backwards it seems...

also, problem is favourizing teams from one country what was clearly obvious in almost all playoff games of croatian representative in EBEL...especially in the last one...few obvious fauls for 2 mins few meters away from 2 JUDGES and they didn't call it

Someone should stop this at least 2 pages ago! Stop comparing ppm matches with high strength gaps to matches between NHL (or AHL and such) teams, please!
Cameras or any other technology has nothing to do with bad/biased/corrupted referees (and I know EBEL ones, as jackass does) and both combined have nothing to do with this game's engine.
And I have lost a match, where the opponent shouldn't have 29/500 chances to win!

i did not speak about the NHL. To compare NHL with PPM is ridiculous. If i say MUCH WEAKER i dont mean Edmonton in comparison to detroit or vancouver. I mean a 1 st league top team against a 3 rd or.4 th league team.

Yikes. Lots of people are touchy on this. All I'm saying is it's good to have a weaker team win. I've lost quite a few games to weaker teams. It's just a game and makes things interesting. When you win against a stronger team I don't see anyone complaining? 29/500 is reasonable and respectable. 6% odds in an extreme underdog case is fine by me.

the problem for for the european teams is that they cant keep their stars at home, they have not enough money. If players like zetterberg, lindström, malkin, kovalchuk, semin, ovechkin, datsyk, sedin brothers. kiprusoff ....... would play at home the NHL teams would be weaker than now and the european teams would be much stronger.

The history shows how close the difference would be between russian teams and nhl teams , when the russian stars would play at home.

but you cant quantify those differences from real life to a game. how do you know how many points in skills represents the difference between sidney crosby and wade belak?

Alright guys, it's time to stop this discussion because it doesnt lead anywhere. As I have said there are some changes planned for the next season again to reduce the chances of major upsets (not to eliminate them completely).

I don't understand, why this additional fluctuation is needed at all. I guess it works by skewing team strengths for a certain random factor and then these skewed strengths are used to calculate match events. Wouldn't unskewed strengths and now changing match importances between periods be enough with the right choice of probability density function(s)?

it is only used to determine the offensive zone time. the actual strength of players in individual plays is constant.

Ok. Then base offensive zone time is determined by Off-A/Def-B ratios in combination with tactics and importances? Then it is skewed by this random factor and used for determining chances for individual plays, that eventualy end with a shot?
So offensive zone time would be constant without this fluctuation, assuming there are no penalties?
