I would say wingers are better shooters. I am familiar with the mag article where this was conducted but I don't trust the calculations to be honest... they should come out to round numbers.
One day I'll do my own, in the meantime we can assume the following:
Shooting contribution: C ~= LW ~= RW ~= 2*LD ~= 2*RD
That is more likely how it is calculated.

I do think that wingers should have more importance when it comes to shooting
I also think that the center should have an effect on the defense of the line
but it doesnt seems like this is true in the game

When i give 2 times more importance for shooting to fowards than defensman i get slightly better results than assuming that they all contribute the same
I didn't say they contribute the same. A dman contributes half of what a given fwd contributes.
Hence: C = LW = RW = 2*LD = 2*RD
Hence: C = LW = RW = 2*LD = 2*RD
this is what i said me too, i get better results when i consider what you said than when i consider an equal contribution for all skaters.
2 times more importance to fwd or half importance to dman
sry, my english is not perfect

At least when energy was not taken into the calculation these numbers worked every single time. I had those in my spreadsheets and the lines got exactly the shooting ratings as calculated. But well, if I would have written such a code, I would have taken round numbers as well, so I understand what you mean.
You still can try them with a 100% Energy line in a friendly. If you have five players like that.. hmm... sounds like something worth testing.

I also remember hearing a rumour that shooting is not impacted by energy while the rest are. Not sure the validity of that. My shooting strength has been the same all season. I would imagine some have trained shooting so it should go up. If energy decrease is at the same rate it is growing then it would stay steady. Something else to look into.
I played some games at max intensity this season and I sure saw my shooting strenght going down after those games as the rest
an older coaching philosophy, feed the man in the slot. like the esposito/hodge/cashman line of 70's or the islander's with trottier/gillies/bossy they'd try to adjust flow get bossy(winger) into slot for shot. still perhaps the best percentage opportunity..
Should I start selling all my best players to build my Lv.15 Training and Arena, or is it better to wait until I have that kind of money available (Which might take a very long time with all the expenses vs. low sponsors)?

Anthony, it's time to start adding seats, and fast ! You won't be able to sustain all these facilities soon. Clean your finances by selling staff first. Then, sell the players you can without hurting you too much. But you seriously need to get more money from seats.
Do whatever it takes to add more. Your revenues are small, but optimize your expenses. Start by building triple min all around your rink and upgrade later. I've done a complete overhaul of my rink in three seasons (thanks Canucks for the tip). It's tough, but you won't regret it. You'll triple your revenues.
