I found my 15yo goalie for the rebuild. I'll be throwing him to the wolves. Enjoy your skewed stats
I've never messed with the pull goalie stuff before, so I set it to trailing by 8 goals. That shouldn't be a problem for most of you.
I've also added 5 young skaters to the lineup. That should help, as well.

Oh, I've also sold my Physicians. And I don't think I'm going to replace them. They say good staff are like having the next highest level of facility. If I get too many injuries, instead of wasting money on a temporary solution like staff, I'll just build Med 11.
I think they're worth a bit more than the next highest level of facility, depending on how good the staff are. Custodians are the example where I was able to figure out the calculations, and having 100% efficiency for both custodians is like increasing your maintenance center by 50%. So, a level 6 maintenance center with two 100/100 custodians is the same as a level 9 maintenance center with no custodians.
The question is whether that's worth it--in the above example it's not, because the level 9 maintenance center costs 12600 more per day than a level 6, while two 100/100 custodians cost well over 300000 per day. That said, for every maintenance center level, there is a custodian efficiency that is worth it, but it's usually not very high.
I've thought a lot about whether I need physicians on my staff recently. I'm more convinced that I do in soccer, where some of my guys are world-class and days of injury means days of lost training and losing ground against other world-class players. In hockey that lost training is worth less to me because my players aren't very good and are for the most part much more easily replaceable.

Have you seen canucks' article (or maybe he just translated?) about staff salaries? He did the same thing with Custodians. There's a sweet spot for Custodians OR vs the level of your facilities. Where the Custodians' salary is less than the amount of money they're saving you. (Found it: ppm.powerplaymanager.com/... )
I agree with you 100% about my soccer team. I'll keep Physicians over there because my team is good and there's something to play for. That's obviously not the case in hockey, so I can screw around with my team a lot more
I'm expecting to need Physicians eventually, but they won't be as good as what I've used in the past. I like J0J0's(?) idea that 50/50 Physicians would be good enough and still relatively cheap.

Also, you said maxed Custodians increase it by 50%. Did you confirm this for level 15, or just use your current facilities? I know I've heard staff are like having the next highest facility several times. I'm wondering if they were referring to level 15.
So a lvl 6 with maxed staff is like a lvl 9, but a lvl 15 with maxed staff is like a lvl 16. I'm hoping that's the cse because, if it's like you said, then Leggmann has level 22.5 facilities

I'm pretty sure it's the case for all facilities. The equation I've figured out, which--last I checked--accurately predicted my costs for both soccer and hockey, is for a percent discount on facilities of:
MC*(2 + Eff)/100
So, in the example I had, with a maintenance center of 6 and efficiency of 100%, that's a discount of 6*(2+1)/100 = 18% off of the normal cost. And with a maintenance center of 9 and efficiency of 0%, it's the same discount: 9*(2+0)/100 = 18%.
Just checked, and it still works for my current case. My facilities' base cost, without any discounts, would be 306,300 (a 13, a 12, two 11's, two 9's, and a 6). My custodians' efficiency is 24%, and my maintenance center is 9. So my discount is 9*(2+0.24)/100 = 20.16%. 306,300 discounted by 20.16% is 244,549, exactly what I pay.

And yeah, I saw that article--it helped me figure out these calculations. I have a spreadsheet now that tells me what attributes my custodians should have, given my facilities and my stadium levels, to maximize the amount of discount against their salaries.
I ran a little experiment last night. I wanted to compare training with and without coaches/physios.
With, my team averaged 1.230.
Without, it was down to 0.881.
Lesson learned? Don't do that

Now you just need to figure out exactly what level staff should be trained at per level of facility to maximize your money, i.e. you get X boost per $ from staff at facility level Y, whereas upgrading would give Z boost per $. Considering all the variables, should be some simple napkin math, right?

I don't think that will happen
But what I will do is buy some coaches & physios who are 25/25 to compare to my regular staff (~65/65).
Fire them and get some 50/50.
Fire them and get some 75/75.
Fire them and get some 100/100.
Each weekend I'll use my current C&P for one day and these others for the other. I'll have a very small sample size, but I can't afford to do much more than that.

Of course I'll try to sell them first. It was just easier to type 'fire'. And I'll look for guys near the end of their contracts as well.
Yesterday was the first day of training with the new crappy coaches. My normal staff is 71/66 Coaches & 62/64 Physios.
Here's the average training from each day so far:
Sat- 1.230 (normal)
Sun 0.881 (no staff - this experiment is cancelled
)
Mon 1.227 (normal)
Wed 1.250 (normal)
Thu 1.044 (33/27C 34/27P)
I've decided to use the crappy staff for 4-5 days instead of the one I had planned. Then I'll fir/sell them and move onto 50/50 staff.

Are you changing the skills your players' train or adding/removing players from the training pool (due to injuries or new pulls)? Those could mess with the numbers.
Nifty experiment though, you just have to hurry up and finish it, so I can decide if should keep training my coaches or stop them soon.
