But if I could select the nationality then I could cheat and build a supernation.
Adversely if a manager sells me a stud at 16 - he lives / plays in the US he should become after so many seasons eligible for the US squad instead of his native country. This will promote the keeping of star players - the only caveat is that once a players plays for a nation, they will always be with that nation.
This is just like the game football manager and similar to the FIFA rules for soccer.

As was stated previously, the OTR gains for the top teams are far exceeding anything the average team can get. As such, it's already at the point where we stand absolutely no chance in catching them.
Yesterday I had someone on skype bragging that they'll be making $13MILLION a week from sponsors.
Well @%@#@# people, i'm going to only get around HALF of that and i'm in Div 1! How the @#$@# is that fair?
Do PPM expect me to pull money out of my ass to pay for upgrades and players at the same level these big guys can?
Over the course of a season, this guy ($13mil man) is going to bring in OVER $170 MILLION dollars. Assuming I get a good general sponsor offer, i'll be lucky if i bring in $80Million.
That's simply un-@%@-fair! These big teams are buying massive players off the market, and upgrading their facilities at a rate I can only dream of.
Do the math... what could you do if you had an extra $90 million a season? Upgrade facilities? Buy whatever player(s) you needed to build a kick-ass team?
If PPM don't step in and do something about this, I fear people are going to simply head for the door with their finger in the air!

+1, seems like the gap is widening for no good reason.

I just wrote a full article on it on my website. The gap concerns me... actually, it really makes me angry, as we're only 3 seasons in and already i'm thinking "what is the point?". Which is a shame.
People like me put a LOT of energy into our teams and into promoting PPM and we realise that we will NEVER catch nor compete with the big teams. They will always be getting further and further ahead of us, no matter what we do.
So why do it?

I want to make it clear that I fully support PPM. I would not be posting here right now if I didn't. But i'm not one to smile and nod and act as if all is right.
So please don't confuse my expressions of frustration and annoyance as anything more than that.

I hear ya, and share the same frustration... and addiction!
Not everyone is supposed to have level 15 facilities, the same team strenght stars, the same arena stands etc. This is not HockeyArena where every team from 3rd division to 1st division has all facilities updated 100%.
The mighty random still gives you a chance to fight against richer teams. You just have to play your cards right and if you play them right often enough, you can get to the same level where they are.

The random??? Are you #@#%@ kidding me?
Read this latest article... www.succeed2k.com /Powerp... is it that anybody new, or even those who have been here 3 years can compete with the top teams when the system so heavily favors them?
In that article i mention a team who is already far stronger, and is now going to be getting twice as much as me, which means we can do so much more. Why should I even bother trying to compete when it's obvious it is IMPOSSIBLE to do so. I could buy a 300OR guy off the market, but I would have to save for 3 weeks to do it. This guy (in the article) could buy one of these 300OR players EVERY SINGLE WEEK.
We're 3 seasons into this game and there is already a huge gap between the top guys and everybody else. What is that gap going to be in 5 seasons or 10 seasons?
More importantly... if people can't build a team that can compete with the best of them, or at least work towards it, why bother playing at all????
This may not be HA, but i'll tell you what, in HA people KNOW they can build their team to compete if they work it hard enough and long enough.

With random I mean matches where clearly stronger team loses against weaker team, The odd results people like to whine about, 30 stars team winning against 40 stars team, the feature that allows weaker teams to beat everyone in a good day.
I don't think the system heavily favours stronger teams. As you know, every team loses 30% of their OTR at the end of every season. For OTR 400 team it decreades OTR to 280. For OTR 300 team it decreases OTR to 210. First the stronger team was 100 OTR points ahead but after the season update they only are 70 points ahead. I don't know if you remember but at the end of the previous season they changed the seasonal decrease from 25% to 30%.
I can't see the gap you're talking about. There are all kind of teams from OTR 50 to OTR 400. There are teams with OTR 60, 62, 63, 64... 160, 161, 162, 163... 260, 261, 262, 263... 360, 361, 362.. and so on. There's no gap between "The best team and everybody else". There are lot's of teams that are exactly in the "gap" you're talking about.
You shouldn't compare your OTR 250 team to OTR 400 teams. You should compare your OTR 250 team to teams closer your team's level, let's say compare it to OTR 300 team. OTR 300 team doesn't get much more sponsor money than you do and at the beginning of the next season you will be less behind the OTR 300 team because of the seasonal OTR decrease. If you play well, you have high chances to make your team better than the OTR 300 team. The OTR 300 team tryes to get into same level as OTR 350 and OTR 350 team to same level as OTR 400 team. It doesn't sound impossible for me if some of the manages closes the 50 OTR points gap in one season. If you play well, in few seasons you can be at the same level as the best teams in the game.
You can build a team that can compete with any team from any league but don't expect it to happen in one night. With great management you can do it in couple seasons, step by step. That's the challenge I like here.

I have to disagree. The top teams may lose slightly more OTR but their sponsor offers have only grown to date while the lower teams see less growth. They have more money, which can allow them to buy better players if they wish or build better facilities which in turn leads to more wins and a higher OTR. The difference in the end of year OTR drop I personally believe is easily made up for during the course of the year. Certainly money does not win hockey games but the smart teams will take advantage and secure even better offers the year after.
But as I always say, we're dealing with an extremely small sample size here so I can see both sides.

Absolutely 100% disagree.
Ok yes, their OTR will decrease at the end of the season making it closer, however their sponsorship bonus is going to be MASSIVE compared to mine... double in some instances. They also already have a very strong team with very strong players, so while their OTR has dropped, they now go into next season with a strong team and a much larger weekly sponsorship fund, which allows them to build their team EVEN FASTER. In 2 seasons when my OTR reaches 400, they're going to be upwards of 800+. The gap is widening each and every year!

Exactly.
Money may not win hockey games, but it allows those players to upgrade their stadium seating (TV sponsorship bonus), get scoreboards (increase attendance), upgrade facilities (train better, faster etc) and of course, the ability to just go out and buy someone they need.

The sponsor offers grow up but so grow up the facility prices, daily expenses, player prices etc. At the end the difference between level 14 and level 15 facility isn't too big for the level 14 team to compete but the cost from level 14 to level 15 is huge.
