I would raise his Tec up so it's equal to his aggression. His Def. is too low for my liking also, so would work to raise his Agg, Tec to 90 and his Def to 180.
I've always found D with lower Tec are inconsistent with stats.

Ahh yeah, i have a few like that. I'm surprised his PIMs aren't too bad. Only 30 from 16 games isn't bad at all really.
Does the other D on his like have good passing? There is a thought that players compliment each other, so a D with great shot or offense would play well with a D who passes really well.

I highly doubt the game engine knows complimentary skills and such. You are reading too much into the results, trueblue. The engine is much much simplier than we all probably wish.
The engine does not simulate a real game, where small objects represent players and run around on the ice. It calculates only the amount of team- and individual actions first, out of those actions it calculates chances and finally goals. There is no "interaction" between players, no creativity, no chemistry.

Indeed, however it is basic logic that the system takes things like passing, shooting etc into account in it's calculations. And logically, higher passing across the line on ice would improve offensive chances, and so a Dman with great shot and lower pass would do better on a team that had higher passing on other players.

"Effective Defense" is 2 x lowest of the two secondary attributes and maximum of the player attribute defense. A player with 100-50-50 is being simulated the same way a 100-100-50 player is. This is already confirmed by officials. Shooting and technique are simulated separately for defensemen.
So the engine knows only three attributes for every skater:
Defensemen: defense, technique, shooting.
Centers you have: offense, aggression, shooting.
Wingers: offense, passing, shooting.
Technique does not transform into speed, aggression does not relate to muscles. Aggression is a defensive attribute to centers, passing is a defensive attribute to wingers. Technique helps defensemen with both defense and offense. Shooting is an offensive atribute to all skaters.

It was just a few weeks before the passage about attributes in the guide was changed. Don't you remember?
No, they have never confirmed how the game engine works, nor will they likely (since it's subject to change for one)
don't forget the source, this is the same guy who was claiming to quit the game if he didn't get a good youth draw, for a laugh apparently, so i'd take it worth a grain of salt.
