probably something they never thought of. good catch.
The only bids that add a minute to the deadline are bids with less than 1 minutes until the deadline. I haven't tested the market agent, but I assume that it places the automatic bid immediately after another bid, similar to e-bay. That leaves two situations:
(1) Someone places a bid with less than a minute until the deadline. A minute is added to the deadline for that bid. Then the automatic bid is placed and since there is more than a minute until the deadline, no additional time is added.
(2) Someone places a bid with more than a minute until the deadline. No time is added due to that bid. Then, the automatic bid is placed and since it is placed immediately after the first bid, there is still more than a minute until the deadline and no time is added due to that bid.
In either case, no time is added due to an automatic bid.
Note: "Immediately after another bid" implies (in this case) less than a second, and is probably MUCH less than a second. I haven't seen a player on the market with an automatic bid, but checking the bid history on one should let you see the time difference between bids.

I filter, scout, and follow players to their deadlines. The market agent would allow me to avoid the last step, which involves regularly checking the closing time. With the agent, I could valuate immediately after scouting and then forget about it. I'd find this very helpful and I'd do it regularly. If I really wanted a player, then I'd go online and maybe outbid what I allowed my agent to do.
Maybe I should have clarified in my first post that I was talking about bids that came in with less than a minute remaining.
On two occasions now in the past few days I've seen a bid with less than a minute left that failed to extend the auction by another minute as they normally do. Both times I checked to see if the bidder was online and he wasn't. So I assume it was a market agent bid in both cases.

I guess another possibility here is some internet lag. I may have put my bid in, the deadline reset to say about 1:10, I hit the refresh icon maybe 15-20 seconds after that and the automatic counterbid hadn't shown up yet even though it may have actually happened immediately after my bid.
I'm thinking about it too. But I'm not sure I want that kind of responsibility. If I'm going to run I'll probably submit my candidacy tomorrow
Well if there is no one and some peoples could backup with the selection process (the scripting part) I could run. But there is probably far better people than just the new guy.
Do people rest their top players in friendly games to save their energy? or play them becasue they have the higher popularity, to get the most fans into the building as possible to make more money?
I'll keep the PPM Player Reporter active indefinitely for whoever wins.
And to answer jbrady's question, I play a league/cup roster and a friendly roster. The reason I do this is that I load up the friendly roster with younger players for experience and chemistry.
That way when one of my regulars gets injured, or I decide to sell him, another player can come up and fill that gap with minimal effect on chemistry.
