Hi everyone, I'm about a week in and I'm loving this game. I have 2 days before I can use the market, and I'm wondering if it is worth it to try and find low salary staff members to boost my facilities, or just be patient and cultivate my own?
I find the staff don't have as much impact early on as completing upgrades on the facilities themselves, so you may want to focus your efforts there first. (Just my opinion of course)
Possibly, but from what I recall the staff can only increase your stuff so much, facilities actually make a bigger impact. I could be wrong, but I built with facilities, bought very few staff in my past.
i disagree with taloncarde a little bit here. i think its very much worth buying staff members for 10-20k if you dont have 2 at each position yet. if you wait for your own you may not get the ones you want. i'd spend a small amount of $ making sure you're covered.
I agree. He should look for high skill values and low qualities. Such staff can be very inexpensive (10-20k) and qualities are not important while education center is at low levels (up to 7 or 8).
I am with Talon on this, spend all your cash on fac upgrades. You will fill out your staff just fine and save cash. IMHO the only thing you should worry about the next 3 season is your facilities. Nothing else will help your team more at this point. during those 3 season you will fill your staff slots easy.
I also suggest you do not spend more then 20k on any player, you do not have the facilities to train them good, which is why Talon is correct, upgrade upgrade and upgrade. Need proof? Take a gander through the div 4 russia teeams.

Right, my philosophy getting started was focusing on facilities, not worrying about players and coaches. However that was also at the start of the game when all such things were rare.
If I had it to start today, I don't know about staff, but I know players I'd look for some of these RFAs, or for players with low qualities but decently trained being sold on the cheap. Since your scouting is probably bad, your estimates will be off, but the "actual" rating for each attribute will be correct.

If I had to restart I would spend all cash on the big 4 FAC. Looking over other leagues, I see how wrong i went. Now it takes weeks to save up for upgrades, really it take about 1-2 months. If I was new, only the big 4 would get my cash until they were all level 12.
This by far will boost a team much better then spending 100's of k on staff, or millions on players. Your team, so find what you like of course, but look over the low leagues of Russia. Slovkia, and Hungry, they all seem to follow the big 4 rule, and there teams are much better then America's.
At any rate, you are now looking at 3-4 seasons just to be in the mix, unless you are in IV or the last 3 of III. This game is not one you get instant results, take your time, build to last. Or you will end up like my team, taking for ever to get the big 4 upgraded. While the other facilites certianly help, none are needed to train your team or help with cash. Training and cash are what you need, now and later.

Yep, the order of importance will vary depending on how you manage your team.
I would stay away from buying staff until your facilities reach about level 8. They may only cost 10 or 20K but their salaries will be a burden on your finances. Like the other guys said, concentrate on the big 4 facilities. If you decide to jump into the market on players, make your priority a goaltender.
Anyone know what the financial conditions are for losing a team. I'm in the red and wondering at what point this may become a serious problem where I lose the team. I can't seem to find anything about it in the guide.
