To quote the Coors Light commercial ..."PLAYOFFS....PLAYOFFS?!?"
I'm seriously thinking of a little youth movement but you guys are just giving up? come on now. you should just spend less time in the game. I spend about 5 minutes avg per day so i don't mind if I don't perform too well.
Both have dedicated alot of time to the game and are dissappointed with the direction it has been heading for a while now. I know flyers has had his weekly money drop so much in the last 2 seasons that he may have folded anyways. Based on what he told me the first drop in sponsor money was expected but this season it seams most everyone got a drop and those that where playing to tight are going to get burned this season, myself included. They just keep making changes to the game the just doenst seem to benefit middle of the pack or lower teams. This new guide update about the OR gains now only going to the winners in ChL & CWC only hurts the US as most of our teams don't mtach other courties outside of our top 4 teams. So the US as a whole just takes another big hit by comparsion to our countries. So I completely understand and get the fustration that many managers have.
As much as I was a manager busting Opivy about tanking I fully understood what he was doing and why. It just bothered me that the game was designed to try and reward that approach to the game for so long. And as Opivy has stated he only moved up once he was ready to be atleast a top 8 team or alteast pretty darn close.
The game seems each season more like a stock market game than a sprots sim game. Where the players are stock options and we are the brookers. If you suck at trading eventually you team will begin to fail & crash. Some of the best teams are the richest teams and most of them were the former 1 atty day traders.

well, EE and Flyers can help take some of that money out of the system by selling off all their players, I guess. One guy has already dropped 110mil on 2 of EE's players, and there is still 145 hours to go? wow
Ok, I guess today is the day it will delete my team. I thought it would be last night but apparently it will be tonight.
@ Ee, now you make me feel bad. Now everybody is going to blame me for you quitting. lol Seriously though, I completely understand where you are coming from.
@samuraifish and jojo, it has nothing to do with how much time I spend on here. Especially recently, I spend very little time on here anymore. Which actually causes me to have wrong line-ups in all the time anymore. As I stated before I have been thinking about quitting for some time now due to alot of game outcomes just not making any sense (wins and losses). Plus the fact that my team may be good enough to survive in league 1, I will never be a top team. I will always be stuck in that 10-12 range, which just makes every season feel like I have gone into syndication. But the main reason I am finally quitting now is the $ issue like blakkat mentioned earlier. I was already running negative most of last season because of the drop off in sponsorship. Now it is even worse. I know it has only been like 2 games but I have been in the red $ wise every day this season so far. And without deleting some facilities and selling alot of players I will always be in the red. Now even when I get paid from sponsors I am still in the red. I will have to sell a starter every couple weeks just to keep my team from being deleted because of money. And I have played this game too long for me to have to start deleting all my facilities just to be able to keep playing. It just wouldn't make any sense. And if I can't make any money, then there is no hope of me being able to improve my team. I would have to do like opivy and go down a league or two just to come back up and go through it all over again. Alot of this can be attributed to me just not managing my team right (selling/buying) like alot of the top teams. So I am not saying everything is the games fault. But I have dug myself into a hole that I can't seem to get out of and it has taken the enjoyment out of this game. Sorry for the novel, just trying to make myself clear.

How much are you getting from sponsors this season? I'm trying to figure out how you can be in the red all the time. We have similar arenas and facilities. I gave a few more players. Oh. You have 30 staff! And a bunch of good ones as well. You have to watch your staff, man. That's what will bite you in the ass because it's not something you check all that often. How much do you pay for your staff daily? I pay 724K and I'm about to sell 3 more of my higher paid guys next week.
I bet if you sold the 15 or so who are above 140OR, you would probably make at least 40M. Plus, assuming each of them make around 100K per day, you would save over 10M per week in daily salary.

I understand that. I have sold several staff members in the past. But it still means I have to sell the best of what I have just to stay afloat. So in some form or another I have to make my team less just to keep playing the game. The point is to keep making your team better, not worse.
I would have to only have staff member around 100 OR to be able to keep it affordable which would make my training, coaching, management, etc all less. Which in turn would mean my team would not be able to progress at a good enough rate to be able to compete. Selling anything (players/staff) at this point would only be a temporary fix until other players and staff started making more money. I had to do all that last year and I am already back to where I was. As long as I continue to make less money evey year even though I keep finishing in the same spot I will never be able to better my team. Unless you are a consistent top 8 team year in and year out you will start to see what I mean.
I decided about 5 days ago that my coaches and Physios were about to cost too much money. I could basically save around 1M per week if I sold the current Heads/Assistants (all around 80/80) and used the slightly worse guys (some 60/60, some 50/50). Unfortunately, I only have one day of training with the old guys, but I've used the cheaper coaches and physios the last 3 days.
Average with old guys : 1.112
Averages with new guys : 1.024, 1.026 & 1.021
So I'll lose 10-11OR per season with these new guys, but that's not a whole lot when the team is averaging over a point per day. Plus they new staff will keep getting better. And so will my stadium, so it evens out.
I've also stopped training my Custodian, trashed my Lecturers so my staff doesn't train as well, capped my Marketing guys at just over 90% (will sell one soon), and I'm about to cap the Youth Training for the SDs.
When these guys get expensive/too old, I'll sell them again and start over. That's what I can afford to do right now and still build. So I do it.

But here is what is missing from your formula, flyers didn't want to just play a game, he wanted to try to be the best in the game like many others. Everyone has a goal for themselves. Some people are just content logging in for 5 minutes set a lineup check or training and move along. Others invents hours days weeks looking to be the best. What is your goal? From the way flyers has posted from past to present, he is not content with only being a 10-12 team, he wants to take leggy's crown. 10 OR loss per season over 5 seasons puts you 50pts per player behind those who find ways to afford it. Over a 4 line starting roster of 21 players the makes your team 1050 points of OR behind the next person.
But what junky was doing wasn't working! He's losing money and was in danger of losing his team when he abandoned ship. Plus his facilities are lagging behind Leggmann's, so his players were losing ground anyway. Sacrificing 10-20 more OR per season so he could continue to build was probably his best option. His other options were sell off his team and rebuild, or become a daytrader. And daytrading is for bastards.
Build or die. Nothing else really matters if your goal is catching Leggmann. Heck, most of my current players probably won't be around when I'm finally in a position to reach for his Crown, so the 10-20 or they're losing doesn't matter.

If you are ok with training less, no matter how much less, then I am happy that you are fine with that. As long as you still find enjoyment in the game, then that is all that matters. But trust me, you will find every season all the other teams will pull farther and farther ahead of you. And I agree that I would save some money by selling some staff members cause I pay about double what you pay(roughly 1.5mil). But the problem is, with sponsorship, tv, souvenirs, skyboxes, ticket sales, etc, I bring in about $13 mil a week. I pay out $18 mil a week. So I lose $5 mil every week. Even if I sold every staff member I have, I would still lose $3.5 mil a week. So unless I sold all my high payed players and destroyed a facilty/stadium or two I would continue to run negative. And if I did that, then I would most certainly be relegated and maybe not be able to make it up. I would have tried to squeak through another season or two until they dropped the $ everybody was getting paid. Now I can't survive where I am at now. I am sure you make more $ a week than I do and you just got into league 1. I have been up here for several seasons, so it really doesn't make much since that you should make more $ than I do. But that is how the game thinks it is fair and that is fine. But I can no longer compete in that fashion.
With the 80 million he would have saved over 5 seasons (1M/wk and 16w/season), he would have the financial flexibility to improve his team. Such as replacing his weakest players with new players from the market, investing in facilities (only 11.5M short of starting TF-14), or tearing down a large stand up and building a max TFM to increase revenue.
If you're trying to win I.1 every season while sacrificing your team's long-term future, you need to win I.1 each season or you're just falling further behind each season. At this point in time, we all have a pretty good idea of our team's chances of winning I.1 in any given season and ,unless your Leggman, they're pretty low.
