It's to get us to buy a ProPack, so you wouldn't see it. It sits on the bottom of the window taking up around 15% of my screen. You can click it to make it go away, but it comes back. It's a bit annoying, but I'm getting used to it.
With regards to these popup ads (I had to use the public account to see them, as I'm a pro pack member), I gotta side with the devs on this one.
The devs/owners put a lot of effort and money into the game, and so I feel that a minor annoyance like a popup at the bottom of the screen is a pretty fair trade off.
It encourages people a little more to buy a propack. Personally I think the added stuff that ProPack offers is well worth it, and more people should buy it, but I can understand why the devs/owners would want to set a little reminder to the users.
They're not true popups even. They don't get in your face, they don't launch another window/tab, it's a minor annoyance, from what I can tell.

I agree. Just a minor annoyance. It would be a big problem if it was anywhere else on the screen.
Here's a pic for the curious ProPackers:

Oh. I see now. That is not something I would have done on their part. I can see their motivation. But the wording just doesn't strike me as tasteful.
Actually, if you use Chrome or Firefox... get the adblock extension, it will get rid of it without you having to pay for pro.
Nope, it's not. It actually gives the wrong impression and makes them look desperate and/or greedy.
Yeah. I used to use Firefox, but it's very slow on my piece of crap iBook
And Safari has some adblockers as well. I probably get a few more ads than I did on Firefox, but the speed boost is worth it. This banner is one of the few that slips through.
And the wording on the banner is a bit harsh, but if it helps them get the necessary sponsors, then it's fine.

Just something like: Support PPM and buy PRO Pack. Take out the "if you want to remove this banner" part.
Instead of 'Give us money or we'll block your screen!', they could just pimp the ProPack features. Or 'buy a ProPack so we can make more games better & faster.' Stuff like that. A positive message would be much better than what is there currently.
Interesting, I have never seen that message just random ads like the one to the right.
Its more than just slightly annoying in my opinion. It blocks content. And when you dismiss it to see the content, it reloads and resets the page, so any sorts or scrolling you have done are forgotten.
