wait, did you just say the record from the season will have nothing to do with the outcome?
hmmm previously your first point as to why pens will win.....we won the season series
sorry but LOL

Anyway I just wrote a couple paragraphs then lost it all so I'll sum it up.
lol make me eat my words
I guess what I mean is that when we play them in the season series it matters because of matchups. But the Caps little record thingy against the other teams doesn't matter at all in the playoffs.
I also said a bunch about how there will be HELL if we face the flyers. And how I will not be surprised if some fans get injured in the stands...Oh how I hate Philly.

I think I slighted the lightening I watched couple of their games they have played well.
Hats of to predators and islanders both have played above my expectations.
Dallas has no team toughness they can skate but if refs let the teams play dallas is in trouble. no ones fast when their butts on the ice. That's why I picked minn.
The blues are averaging well over 40 hits a game, the hawks are not the same team they were they are not very deep past the top two lines and they are playing defenceman that did not play much during the season by necessity they are banged up on the blueline already. I hate Duncan Kieth with a passion but hes kept Chicago in the series he has played very well despite being a blues target. but I think the blues close it out tonight winning all three games in chicagos united center despite the partial refereeing being against them there has been some really bizarre calls so far going against the blues or the hawks would be playing golf allready.
just my rambling opinions

Sigh. The Stars. Where do you start? Both goalies for the Stars rank around #40 in the league with just over a 90% save percentage. Niemi is a good goalie when there is team in front of him dropping like flies. They also do not have a defense highly skilled at keeping everything to the outside. What the Stars do have is scoring. They did so well in the regular season because they just flat outscored everyone else. But, this is the playoffs. You have to at least two out of the three and Dallas doesn't. They "can" get through the first playoff round on what they have, but not the second--especially with the mediocre goaltending.
At least they have a good group of young players to build around.
Is Jack Campbell considered a bust by Stars fans at this point, or does he still have a chance to solve their problem in goal in the future?

If he can't be better then who is already there (which is a very low bar) then yeah he is a bust
The only thing I don't like about the blues is the they have the same problem that the capitals and also the sharks have. Finishing the series and giving out the death blow. They had a 3-1 lead over the defending champions and arch rival. Yet they cannot seem to finish Chicago. When you get punched in the gut either you punch back or you crumble into a heap. We are about to find out if the Blues and the Capitals do that.
Ah! The “Mighty” Blues. I actually lived in St. Louis when the Blues were a brand new team. Stanley Cup finals 4 years in a row. Meeting the team at the airport in the middle of the night every year when they flew home after losing. Of course, Scotty Bowman was the coach then, followed by Al Arbour…so what else could you expect, right? But, this habit of bowing out early has been going on for a while…back into the 90’s if I remember right. Different coaches have not made a difference. Different players have not made a difference. It is really sad and pathetic. It is also why I hedged my pick for St. Louis to win this round. I would love to see the Blues get that killer instinct back…I just don’t know when it will happen. Hopefully Monday.
I think the Stars are where Chicago was the year before they won their first Cup. They have done very well in bringing up their youngsters. But, Dallas does not have the whole package yet. I firmly believe the year the Stars solve their goal tending issue is the year they become serious title contenders in the West, and for the Cup.
They need a top defensemen and a decent goalie. I am thinking if they can sign James reamer next season watch out
Let me say it this way: the Stars can dance really well with that they have...if they get a solid goalie. And, stay out of salary cap trouble.
Not so sure about Reimer. He had stellar numbers for 8 games for SJ last year. But, improvement of numbers coming from Toronto would not be hard. It could be an interesting gamble.

He is the best up coming free agent goalie on the market. The sharks are not likely to sign him so he could be a boon for any team that needs a goalie.
I know I was impressed with Chicago. Currently I'm rooting for the flyers to force game 7. Locked at 0-0.
