I can assume that you will be much happier to win over someone just because you beat him tactically, rather than just because your goalie had a good day/all of opponents' shooters had bad day. To simplify, when the feeling is better, when you win over someone just because you over-smarted him tactically or just because you win by 'chance'? Than he should sent you a message saying that you are better, or what? As popaji said that's not sportsmanship, it's sarcasm, even sarcasm is when you feel happy after such a 'chance' win...
Anyway, that's main reason I almost stopped to care about my hockey team, and I put all of my attention to football, in which you can really over-smart you opponent tactically, just like I did yesterday in Champions League Quarterfinal match.

He made the decision to play the goalie that had a great game, brought him in, and trained him. He set the lineups, trained the players who scored the goals, etc.
My point is, while I am disappointed to be out of the National Cup, i'm not going to act like some of you guys and take away from his victory, he won, the game is over, and I am excited for him since I can't continue in the tournament myself, as well as seeing a team from my league pull off the win.
Besides, you guys asked me to come back here and tell if I feel the same way about these results when it happened to me, and I'm here to say yes, i am still OK with losing a game against an opponent I may be better than.
While I may have lost, another manager won, and that is the point that seems to have blinded many of the people in this thread.

Of course I'm happy if I can outsmart an opponent. And if I win an upset I would certainly like to ascribe that to some extent to the way I choose tactics/lineup. But as things are, in a calculation-based game it still needs a lot of luck (or chance) to win an upset against a much stronger team. Nevertheless I can still feel happy after such a win. That has nothing to do with sarcasm (at least if I care about my team and try to react to the opponent). It's actually kind of offending when you or popaji tell me I should feel embarrassed after such a win. Actually it's not my fault that I started later into this game and can't regularly compete with a lot of teams - so I do enjoy the occasional upset (something that just happened once in my three-and-a-half seasons of ppm-hockey). And telling me that's not sportsmanship, phew...
But I agree with you that by the more complex tactical possibilities you have in football outsmarting your opponent is more likely and satisfying. And btw, upsets in football are much more common. Doesn't stop people from whining in the forums...

Why so much fuzz about a game? If you don't like it, don't buy propack. That's a message all devs, officials whosoever will understand. I've learned a lesson from chatting here. Don't do it. You'll either encounter ignorance or - when you act like a fool - you'll meet great arrogance from people who feel superiour.
However, Vlady mentioned bad goalie days a lot, the win had happened accidentally. When the weaker team beats the stronger just by accident, which means no coaching skill or tactical finesse was ever involved, I don't see much sense to play such a game, unless kids are the only target group.

Agreed Spike, i'm not saying I wouldn't enjoy even more control over tactics, but you still put together the team that won, had faith in the players who were able to put it all together and get the win, etc.
You should never feel "ashamed" or like you only won because the system screwed the other team.
Every game has a winner and a loser, and everyone should be happy to win a game, they shouldn't have to sit here and see these other managers talking about how pathetic they are and there is no way they would win if the game hadn't won for them, etc.

excuse me? are you talking about me? when was I arrogant? Who ever said no tactical skills are involved? More often than not, the games between equally strong teams are won by the one that has chosen the better tactics for the situation. Just because there are some freaky results here and there doesnt mean tactical skills are irrelevant.
what tactical skills to win against stronger opponents? i think it is only luck...
with arrogant i think he means other managers...

Probably the biggest misunderstanding is that this is a MANAGER game. You are not a player, you cannot win a game, you can only do your best to prepare for it. It is up to the players of both teams, the referees and the Luck to decide. That is what being a manager is all about.
One can think in terms of longer periods of time, say, three, five, seven seasons and even more. There you will have ups and downs, and you have to work with what you've got. You cannot win a league and say, "I've done it, I'm the best", the life goes on and surely you'll lose some day. When you lose a game, it is not the end of the world, it happens in sports. You'll rebound. You are the one to make the strategical decisions and respond for the grand total, not for one game. This is how managers really work, isn't it?

I've studied that soccer game and I'll do it again and again, yet I strongly disagree about the soccer GE being clearly superior to the current hockey GE.
@ Vlady
Don't worry, not talking about you. Your only weakness is the lack of sense of humour.

oh, I am a jolly character, but I somehow I don't get your humor.

Ok, you are not to blame that you don't know Serbian PPM history, and you can't see tactical choices in those days as well as my opponents strength. You could take my word for it, but since you won't...
Serbia had at the beginning barely 200 users, which means first 2 seasons finalists could play 8 weeks max in NC. Germans could play 11 weeks. That also implies that round of last 16 is not a success if you had team that ranks in first 3 places from those 200 teams. It is a failure, especially if you do everything you can to secure a win against weaker opponent, and even choose right tactic.
So from 7 possible, I had 5 cases of unexpected results. In one I made a mistake, and in one I had stronger opponent. Those 5 did influenced a lot my sponsor offers, and my current level of strength.
It's offensive if we explain why you had luck in winning over some team ? We didn't wanted to bust your bubbles man. That wasn't our primary motive believe it or not. If you want to be ignorant and happy - just don't look at our posts. Lot of guys are appreciating our effort, so partly in respect for them, I won't stop contributing in making this game fit to our needs.
It's a lousy job, but that is how I understand things and I can take a punch or two from those who don't feel the same.
And for the record, I like to use WHAAA topic more, instead of this one when we speak of irregularities in some games. I didn't start the talk here, but I surely have the right to discuss it.
