You are missing the point. Point is not our willingness to accept defeat. We are talking about the engine - it has to be changed (again) because this game can be made better, and because game in this state that is - is not behaving as it should be.
I'm sick also of this polarity growing, but it has to have some source, can't you agree at least in that ?

So when someone else wins, it's luck. When you win it's not?

It's not luck that gave you players from your Sports Academy? Luck that your players aren't injured? Luck that you got a better sponsorship deal to get more players off the market? Luck in the players you got to start your team? Luck on staff brought in?

Now obviously some of these factors were influenced by decisions, such as building better facilities, hiring the right coaches, keeping the right players, but you can't deny that luck isn't also a factor in how your team was built.

The same thing is true of the game engine, you shape the factors by the team you field, the decisions you make on tactics, lines, etc, but there are still going to be elements of luck.

Luck, "Random", whatever you want to call it is part of this game from the ground up, not just in the game engine, so if you are saying someone winning a game unexpectedly is all "Luck" should I then infer that the majority of your wins that are expected are all "Luck" as well?

No, I don't agree. If I wanted to play a game where I "expected" to win every time, i would be bored by that game. I enjoy that I can't always win, just like real life.

I think the parity is great for the game, and don't have an issue with it. If the Devs think there are issues to address and choose to do so, great, that is their job and I hope they keep doing so. But I think determining there is a problem with the sole statistic being "But I shouldn't have lost" is the wrong approach.

On an ever-so-slightly different subject.

I don't know about you guys but, the Q&A thread has been VERY useful to me as a new manager. Lots of discussions about tactics, players, attys/quals, facilities, etc., etc. I wouldn't have anywhere near the grasp I have on PPM if it wasn't for reading the forum.

Unfortunately, mixed into all that useful information is pages and pages of discussion that probably should have its own thread. I am ALL FOR a great discussion but, I do wonder if we should have a separate thread for the age old "why did I lose" question?

It IS a question, granted. But, often times, not one that has an answer (at least not one that the poster will like). So, what it ends up being is pages and pages of arguments and accusations. Not very useful OR informative stuff.

Who says it's luck when someone beat me, and when I beat someone it's not ?
You are shaping your team from scratch, having some concept in your head, so there shouldn't be big luck factor. Even in things like SA and injuries that are mostly decided by luck, you can influence a bit.
I do remember some dissatisfaction why some manager from Slovakia got two best players in whole PPM in the early days. They weren't satisfied with luck as an excuse.
I will say again - luck should exist in match calculation, but in smaller extent.
If you don't like my opinion, well even owners of PPM said that engine is not perfect, that they didn't have much time to finish it, and that it needs to be corrected here and there.

All what can do to win is pray for more luck. There are no tactical options to use. Great lottery managergame

the winning team has better shooting ratio compared to primary and secondary skills, so they win, as simple as that ...

Oh the game can always be improved, I'm not arguing that.

If anything I think the biggest improvement would be more tools to explain some of the game outcomes, like a player rating for individuals. If my Center got stripped the puck a lot and miss the net a lot, he should get a lower "rating" stuff so we can understand more of what happened during a game.

They also probably have more hard statistics on these losses, and so like I said I am not saying they should stop working on it, if they feel there is improvement to be made I understand

The point is, reading this thread 1 loss is too many upsets ever, so even if the amount of upsets is too high in PPM's vision, and they work to reduce it, people in this thread will still complain every time they lose, and that it must be a "bug"

Yes you're right, that's why: 250-150-125-125 is much poorer than 150-120-75-75.
