I should add why I chose those attributes.
1. Imagine a real on ice simulation. You have to start with some sort of dynamics... players have to move, so that is skating to start with.
2. Then you have single plays... the engine needs to calculate what a "good play" in a certain situation would be, and how likely a player would actually do this good play (vision).
3. The engine needs to know how skilled the player is to calculate if he could do the stickhanding, deking or pokechecking needed in that certain play.
4. Last but not least the game engine would take a look at the character of the plyer, e.g. if a defenseman is very aggressive he would likely hit than pokeckeck, dump the puck instead of deke, which both could be "good plays" in that situation.

This is very nice, very in-depth. I agree. However it would me a complete re-tooling of the game and essentially a complete do-over unless I'm mistaken.
Retooling sounds nice to me. It may be a lot of work to do, but when the first steps are taken and the simulation runs smoothly with the 9 attributes they still have a lot of room left to add further more detailed attys if they like. And we could see how players' attributes actually effect their in game performance. Also imagine the new tactical possibilities when you are able to build checking forwards, real scoring lines, two way lines, when you can choose to build a super quick sharp shooting winger, offensive defensemen, creative centers... simply a bit more of real hockey.
And if the developers think such an overhaul would require too much time - which means money - and they can't take the risk, I can try to programm it myself. I may not be very experienced at online programming but I'm motivated.
. If they just tell me what programm language they're using I'll try to do it in my weekends.

heh, you know how much time this would take for 1 person to programm??
Will these game engine improvements be implemented on season 7?
1. change of faceoff calculations
2.new feature in game summary - offensive zone time by period
3. option to change importance based on the score
4. improvement of calculation of penalties
5. power play and penalty kill tactics
6. reduction of influence of counter-tactics
7. special influences of each of the 6 styles of play
8. option to set approximate ice time for each line
9. Free agent market
10. increase of the influence of faceoffs on shot count
11. increase of shooting effectiness
12. goalie self confidence
Also I remember that there was (on news?) plans to change seasonal energy consumption if you play on three lines... Do I remember correctly or was I only dreaming?

+ Possibility to choose importance from five options and an adjustment of the influence of game importance on energy
Can anyone explain what I need to change to make my 'star' player perform better?
His attributes look like this:
Off:203 Sho: 122 Pas: 68 Tec:107 Agr:101
What I am worried about is this: S% 8.5 (it is getting worse each season)
My other Wingers (with similar distribution of attributes perfom much better, S% is between 15 and 20 ...)
Also his entire line (#1) seems to follow his bad lead, it performs worse (+/-) than my 'weaker' lines #2 to #4.

About goalie confidance... It should be some seasonal confidance too. Goalies that dont perform well on like say 3 consecutive games would drop some seasonal confidance. If a goalie performs well on like 2 consecutive games his seasonal confidance would go up.
I believe that this is in real life too.

Yeah and the best way to get his confidence from bad to neutral would be to let him rest a game or two. Then you'd actually have a reason to use your 2nd goalie from the start in some games like they do in NHL and other leagues.
Another idea
For instance, this season my first goalie has played every single league game. In NHL the first goalie plays like 60-65 games and the 2nd goalie plays, say, 20 games. Since Current Energy goes up to max after a day there is no reason to use the other goalie. But if the Current Energy for goalies wouldn't go all the way up after a day there'd be a reason to let 1st goalie rest.
The developers could find a way so that your 1st goalie would play like 30 games and 2nd goalie would have to play the other 8 games. (First goalie plays a couple of games, then needs to rest one game, then plays a couple of games and so on)
