I shouldn't have to worry about getting moved up to league 2 should I?
No, but if you demote you'll probably be moved to another league III instead of staying in IV.
Haha thanks for the info, but I play for 5th place starting on Monday, so I don't think I have to worry about demotion.
Oh right, sorry. I keep mistaking your team for the Mongol Hordes for some reason. And of course you're in the final 8 since I played you in the first round.
Yeah thats kind of what I was thinking, and honestly I wouldnt mind staying in tier 3 if there wasnt such a dramatic difference between the top and bottom in a single league. When 3/4 of the league can beat me by 5+ goals every game, without even trying, it gets old pretty fast. And I understand demoting to tier 4 its not much different, I would just be on the winning end of the same situation. My hope is that I get shuffled back into tier 3 but in a "weaker" league. That would actually motivate me to improve my team and pay more attention to things like tactics, to try to have a chance to stay there.
The only reason I came to this league was because you were running an experiment and threw the prom/rel games. And the only reason i stayed was because I drew an inactive team in the placement games last season, and finished too high. And wouldnt you know it, i drew an inactive again this season. As much as I hated doing it, I had to throw those games because I dont think I could stand another season like this. Especially since next season there likely wont be any NoNames, and their replacements would most likely be better than I.

Again, I'm sorry for having promoted you when I did. Interestingly enough, if you demote, you will actually follow the path I was trying to take then and be moved to a weaker league III. There are a lot of league IIIs that don't have teams with 140+ strength where you will have more fun.
What if they had a different promotion path?
I.1 is fed by II.1 and II.2
II.1 and II.2 are fed by II.3 and II.4
II.3 and II.4 are fed by III.1, III.2, III.3, III.4, which are fed by etc.
Something like that?
As it is, the jumps in difficulty are too great. If they lessened the degrees of change, it would take a lot longer to reach the top ranks (in terms of # of promotions required), but it would make promoting a lot less devastating.

I like the idea. Problem right now is there simply aren't enough teams of a similar caliber to fill in a structure that is so flat. So you have teams in league III.2 that dominate other amanged teams with scores above 10-1. Not fun for us, no challenge, or for them, wtf.
Also, with the sponsors and ticket sales linked somewhat to the league level you're in, the people in the paths to league II.3-4 have an easier path than for us.
Two seasons ago, I demoted my team because I was hoping the end of season shuffle would put me in another branch. My team then would have dominated any other league 3 ensuring a quick promotion to league II.
I was trying to prove that the shuffle to replace nonames was a good idea then but by not doing the process reshuffling all teams, that you had some super leagues forming and the guys demoting from our league we being shuffled to other league IIIs and then promoting to II before our top teams had a chance at a promotion.
It happened to Metropolitains and Quebec Armada among others.

They need to do more than that. Smaller countries should have a smaller pyramid. Only two II leagues, only four III leagues, eight IV leagues. That would spread out the talent and make the climb more sensible. People wouldn't get frustrated being stuck between a dominant II team and a punching bag up in I. A lot of teams in the US have quit because of this. Well, this and the Force being unstoppable.
