Can we then designate players as scratches for the PP and PK too?
I wasn't that specific but I would hope if LW1 gets hurt LW2 moves up as does LW3 and LW4. However LW3 will slot into the PP.
Right, but what if LW3 is a PK specialist and LW4 is better suited to assume LW1's role on the PP? Or, perhaps RW2 will take LW1's vacated spot on the PP instead?
So you could have a special teams scratch list, similar to the scratch page. The only players available would be players on the active roster or scratch page.
4th liners can't play PP or PK so if one gets hurt unless you want the sub to go on the PP or PK there is only one other guy to take.
But in this situation LW4 becomes LW3 which means he is now eligible to play special teams.
Okay say LW1 gets hurt who plays on PP1.
LW2 --> LW1 (Already on PP2)
LW3 --> LW2 + PP1
LW4 --> LW3
Scratch --> LW4
That what you mean? Option of LW4 and LW3 to join PP1?

Or any other player -- could be RW1/2/3, that is the favoured sub for the special teams position.
Don't confuse the Devs... the concept of players moving up the depth chart seems to trouble them enough.
Don't go confusing them or we'll never see the improvements.

you sold a player and now you want him back? The signing bonus discount doesn't apply in those situations. And I don't think that should be a "thing".
Not yet, but I'm thinking about it. Not sure I can afford to keep the guy right now but would want him back as a free agent.
What if the signing bonus decreased year by year that the player isn't on the team?
Doesn't it often happen in real life that a player is traded prior to their free agency and then picked up at a hometown discount by the very same team that traded him away?

Rental players?
Doesn't happen often in the new CBA, but it was far more common before.

Yes, exactly. It doesn't happen as much now because everyone is locked up until they're 42 years old, but it's not unheard of for a player in the final year of a contract to be traded from a pretender to a contender and then to resign with the pretender in the off-season with the cupboard restocked.
I figure if I have paid my guy the bonuses, I have built up some good will, regardless of whether I then sell him.
Anyway, it was just a query and a suggestion... I take it that's not the case here, nor will it be.
