I want to know if I am overspending on staff for my team's stage of development. Is there a general guideline for the ratio of staff salaries to player salaries, for instance?
In my opinion, if your staff salaries are more than your players salaries you're spending too much.
IMO, if your weekly expenses (staff/players salaries & arena/facilities maintenance) exceeds weekly income (GS+TV rights, without ticket sale), then you are spending too much! It would be ideal if your (weekly) expenses would be half amount of your (weekly) income. The other half (+money from tickets) should be your "savings". Be careful, if you have 3 employees whose contracts expires on the same day, and they all demand +50k higher wages, that can quickly throw you out of the "comfort zone" and find yourself in red numbers.
Good point. I aim to have ticket sales cover salaries for week. Media deal to cover facility/stadium expenses and general sponsor to be the big bucks
. I'm a bit shy on media deal but once my recent upgrades are done it'll cover it.

My player salaries are at 208,000 and my staff salaries are at about 340,000. I am OK with this, but don't want it to get much worse lol.
Is it even possible to have lower staff salaries then player salaries? I have 212K in player salaries, and 1,3M in staff salaries.
Well as long as you keep your staff at a 1:1 ratio and under 140 OR like most of your staff are, I think, then its pretty easy to keep a low cost for staff.
Even though the fathers of this game say that the staff salaries higher than players is realistic, it's not. I highly doubt that someone in NHL like Stadium custodians, make the same amount of money as Ovechkin and Crosby.

It's due to their influence. A study was done awhile ago and found that high level staff have a HUGE impact on facility performance for high level facilities. For example, if you have 82% efficiency a lvl 12 facility will perform like a level 14 facility.
don't put in our mouths what we don't say. We never said it was realistic. We said it's that way because they have a huge influence on the facilities which are also expensive.
