right!! as an nhl draft junkie, I've always felt this would had a lot to the simulation if we could scout player during season and draft a player only because you think he has a great name for a hockey player
in any case, if you need any help regarding this that isn't linked with algorithm and computer stuff, i'd gladly participate! haha
I'd prefer if scouting players was actually relevant.
Perhaps a stat increase for scouting players. 0.22% per player (with 4 lines) or 0.29% if 3 lines (including goalies).
That's a 5% bonus for having a whole team scouted.
Also make it based upon ice time ratio so that the more a person plays, the more influential scouting them is.
That way having a good scouting staff can help you win games.
If a 5% increase is too much, the numbers can easily be changed.
Great idea! I've always thought about suggesting the idea of a draft but I had to be cautious because it would be no different than getting pulls from the SA. But the use of scouting managers to the draft would make it completely different. I would've never thought of that.
I think only the first 16 teams of each league should be included though, as giving the best players to the 4 last teams seems a bit like encouraging relegation.
In fact, a «Super 16 Draft» could be a great way to prevent intentional relegation!
While I would have love a "draft" system from the start... implementing one right now will only help make stronger team better in the long run if staffs are a huge part of it. No teams outside of I.1 can pay for a superstar scout and after a while it will be "meh!".
It would be easier to offer the last pull of the season based on your standing and league. We could even keep the way our standing is divided. 17-18-19-20 will get the best OR but also the widest range of %quality (say 40-90). 9 to 16 will still have good players but a smaller range of %quality (50-80) and 1 to 8 will have the rest with the smallest range possible (60-70). So even finishing 1st could give you a good player while you run the lottery (which PPM seem to love) for the last place teams which could get a spectacular franchise player or a bust.
Won't be a problem if only the first 16 teams are drafting players. There is also a good chance that they won't pick the best guys, since they won't be able to scout them.
I really don't think there is an issue there.
i'm against the idea of draft. top teams didn't just have the entire roster handed over to them (except montreal strippers i guess..). they had to spend more time (on average) than weaker teams to build a stronger team. implementing draft would encourage managers, who doesn't play much, to keep on not trying on improving their team, but rather sit back and get superstars, and even out with stronger teams than their own
if there were to be one though, i think higher sa allowing you to have a larger pool from choose from, or some benefit similar to this could help the game. amateur scouting can be done with hr (+sa) until the players are 15, where they are drafted?
also, in case a superstar gets drafted, but the manager of the drafting team quits the game, all players under certain age (whichever makes sense), who hasn't hit the market, could re-enter the draft?
this way, if another tierney was drafted by a weak team and the manager of that team quits the game, no one will complain about how he would've been on the nt, etc..
lastly, the draft should not be a real time.. i honestly don't see 2500 canadian managers online at the same time for the draft.. rather, maybe each teams can make a list of players they want to draft and set priority on whom they want to draft, and maybe more details like "i will only draft player A if he goes in 4th+ round"
draft picks should not be dealt, but rather they could be treated as a player.. meaning, teams would be able to sell draft picks on market?
these are just a few ideas i have in mind right now. feel free to add/comment/ask
maybe a mix of pulling players, and draft could be a possibility? where keep pulling as it is, and then make draft eligible age be 18. whomever isn't draft can re-enter the draft twice (18, 19, 20), and if they are not draft on their third draft year (20), they would automatically enter the market, where teams can bid on them and have them start on their team at the age of 20
