For a long time it seemed Russia cannot put together a winning team. Between 1993 and 2008 they haven't won any major tournament despite not lacking the talent. The Russian teams in that era failed in key games of the tournaments or they just did not buy into to team concept. Whatever it was, they have managed to fix it and since 2008 they have dominated the world stage by winning two straight World Championships.

In 2006 USA suffered an 8th place finish mainly due to the fact that the aging veterans could not cope with the speed of the younger teams in the tournament. This year, the US team will have a much younger flavor and a they will be a force to be reckoned with. General Manager Brian Burke did not forget to add a few veterans to provide the always needed experience.

With the Winter Olympic Games just around a corner it is time we took a little look at what we can expect. First I will scrutinize undoubtedly the most stacked hockey roster of all participating nations. Getting on the Canadian roster is a major achievement for any player no matter how big a star he is. Steve Yzerman, the general manager of Team Canada, has had the difficult task of selecting the 23 players that should bring the gold medal back to the cradle of hockey.

On December 12, 2009, the Soul Darts Club in the capital of Hungary hosted a meeting of PPM fans. The PPM staff attended the meeting as well and I am glad to report that we had a great time and we had received a warm welcome from our southern neighbors.
