USA Basketball Facility Development

USA Basketball Facility Development

Top USA Basketball Facilities

Date: 1/31/2015 1:00 PM EST – Season 4 (Day 6)

Purpose:  The purpose of this article is to compare facility development for USA basketball teams based on the cost of those facilities and to identify top teams based on each of the tier 1 and tier 2 facilities.

Notation – I’ll abbreviate facilities and levels using the TF-15 notation.  That is, the letters represent the facility and the numbers represent the level.

Facility Cost– Throughout this article, I’ll define this as the cost of facilities assuming that no facilities have been torn down.  Ex: TF-10 and 9.5 each represent spending 46M on the TF (the cumulative cost of upgrading from TF-1 to TF-10).  This is similar to the rankings available through the statistics section, but weighted on cost of each facility.

Disclaimer:  The facility cost rankings could change during the day as a team spends additional fund on their facilities.

A few observations:

·         While the list is dominated by I.1 teams, 13 division II teams, 3 division III, and 1 division IV team crack the top 30.

·         The I.1 team that didn’t make the list is currently 2nd in I.1 in cash.

·         The I.1 team that is 1st in I.1 in cash is also 1st on this list.

A number of teams are pushing their Sports Academies higher than any other facility.  This could help the USA NT significantly in the future, as long as those players also go to teams with high training facilities.

St. Louis Wiz (II.1), Nite Slayers (I.1), Dribbling Seamen (II.2), Mutant Atomic Supermen (I.1), Atlanta Sharpshooters (I.1), Bombsville Rocket Works (II.3), and the poops (II.1) all have SA-12 started.  The top division and each league in the second division are represented here.

Green Shirt Thursdays (II.2), Cold Mountain Shiners (IV.3), and Psychos (III.2) have SA-11 completed.  Divisions III and IV are represented in this group.

Note:  Of the teams listed in this section, only the Nite Slayers have completed TF-10 (they have TF-11).

At RF-10, Erratic Emus (I.1) and Nome Icebergs (I.1) lead the pack here.  Neither has started RF-11.

Cibona 1983 (II.2), GoldFish (I.1), and Las Vegas Ballas (II.3) have RF-10 in-progress.

Compared to the other facilities mentioned in this article, RF has less overall development and fewer teams currently upgrading their regen facilities.  This is often considered the least important of the “Big 4” in other sports and that perception appears to have carried over to basketball.
