Question...has there been any research done on players optimal age to sell him(I'm talking top players not average). Is the 3 years you gain from the RFA worth the price, is the 3 years u gain from the first UFA period worth the price and after that when is it best to cut ties in order to still gain a high price for him.
I know this fluctuates as it depends on the qualifying offer he received and it fluctuates by the players OTR, but I'm very curious

Depends on the sport and phase of its timeline. In hockey soccer the answer is almost always sell as soon as possible since the gain from waiting will rarely outweigh the cost of keeping them (especially if you have excess player fees). Closest article I've written is on a gedankenexperiment:

Yup I've read that article, was reading tons of articles today and was curious. I love reading your articles as its all about long term success
That's always my plan. I've built all my teams for long-term success. Basketball is perhaps the worst built, I misjudged a bit *when* to get my long-term youth players. The shortened season and rate at SA level growth has kinda botched my plan. But, they were bought on the cheap (compared to players this season) and I can always try and sell their sorry asses!
Yea it's certainly different (which is good). I bought an expensive youngster and he played backup all season as a 16yr old (did fine). I've also decided to let 2 16yr olds get some playing time in the playoffs as backups. Still a full season away from becoming strong players but with a strong first line I can allow myself a 2nd string slightly weaker than the average in div 1, always a work in progress
I play my youngsters on VH in friendlies. They get crushed against most teams and have gained minimal Exp, I think it is a losing venture given the OTR loss.
It also slows down growth. You also have to consider that out of the 10 youngsters you have, only about 2-4 will ever become a starter on your team. Their growth takes awhile and youngsters you will get in the next 2 years will have almost as high of OR as your current youngsters
Bookies predict a sizable RCP win at home to finish off the season which was needed as they back xSakicx's boys to win as well. A win is predicted for EmoSquad so it'll be interesting to see the Les Loups result though that GD may be insurmountable.
It's in these kind of situation you are really mad of that lost by one point earlier in the season.
At least I got a lot of points for the relegation round, and my starting PG will comeback as well.

Personally, the way it is setup for hockey I truly believe you are better off just missing out of the playoffs then just mmaking it. Now you get 14 games against the weaker teams in div 1(maybe 10 wins) and RCP has a round 1 match up against goldfish and odds are 5 wins will be tough to get by the end of his playoff run. You gain a higher OTR then he does and it most likely helps your sponsor deal more than it does his. Now if RCP can win a round or 2 it's a different story
Didn't realize today's game against Les Loups would result in them missing the playoffs. Sorry brother.
You totally knew, your pregame speech was the best one uve given all year long ☺
