I don't have the slush funds to invest in the type of players that would produce those kinds of profits. And, as a result, I don't have the facilities to train them to be profitable.
You have TC 14, you do have the facilities to train them to be profitable.
If you find a good 15-16 years for 20 to 30M$, pretty sure you can sell him 4 seasons later for close to 100M$.

This is true...but you have better facilities then 95% of teams still.
You can turn a 1M player into a 10M dollar player. Or 10M into 30M. The trick would be to go after players good enough to be profitable but just not good enough where big money spenders bid on em.

I buy someone, they drop to 5/6, bye-bye profit unless I carry him for 3 more seasons at which point salaries take a huge chunk of any profit. You should do the math on how much these players make during their time on your team

You can get crazy steal on the market. I got a player for 10k. He's 16YO 5/6 and 450OR. It's not that good, but he's improving by 1.2 every day. I'll probably sell him at 17YO or 18yo before he drops to 4/6.
For 10k that's not even a risk. I pay 7k every day for my worst player.
