This is a bug, there is no question about that.
I was taking the game big time, shots at goal 6-0 and lead 1-0. Then the opponents player was shown a red card.
Everything changed immediately! They completely dominated ever since and finally took the away-game 1-2.
Just.. ridiculous. I never would have minded if I lost this game 0-3 before it started. But seeing how it went, this is against every logic.

agreed, no team has ever played better after going down to 10 men. every single one has lost.
I agree. I get lots of cards. However mostly yellows. I've played against teams who've taken reds and it's like nothing changed. I hope it really sinks teams when they take them. Would make it more real if even if you don't light the lamp all the time... if you just dominate possession in their zone and all they do is defend and clear.
arsenal has lost 2 games in the past 2 seasons against 10-man squads. we often play poorly vs 10. it's irrational to expect that every team down to 10 men is going to get dominated. it depends on the tactics of the team that's down. some teams down to 10 men will score 2 and win. i'm sure if you ran the simulation 10,000 times you'll find a pattern of positive results for the team with 11. in one match anything can happen. in 10 matches anything can happen.
"this is a bug, there is no question about that." that is emotion talking, and not reason.

I wasn't claiming a bug. Simply stating I think the penalty for playing with 10 men is not high enough.
you didn't claim a bug, he did.
what statistical data do you have to support your claim that the penalty is not high enough?
too often in these games do people look at short term results.

You are correct. However, I stated that it gave the other team a sudden domination. I never said they couldn't play better in real life. It just shouldn't cause sudden advance that big that the domination changes, instead of penalty. I lead the shots on target 6-0 when the red card came. After that the shots on target were 0-4 for them.

that goes back to the whole "you need to have one player in each of the 3 zones" idea
you have little insight into the "domination" of the opposing team. you can't see the calculations for each event. what you see is a ridiculously small sample size of play. for all you know the player who received the red card was not having a positive impact on the opposing team's play. i'm not saying he was having a negative impact, but you're thinking too close-mindedly. in real life a team could simply play 3 at the back after a red card and have little impact on their midfield and offensive play. and shots on target is a poor stat to analyze for flow of play. just because another team has 10 men doesn't mean that a shot will be on target.
