No counter tactics? Counterattacks isn't the best for breaking up?

Maybe i'm little bit over-reacting, but last week i've got quite similar situation (not in same scale, but similar).

maybe the game engine doesn't love the P and R managers

The "Counter" tactic is probably why you got so many shots, but if your shots were saved and his were not, that's all it takes. Otherwise both teams are close in ratings, so, it happens, teams lose.

A question for PPM team. The guide says the following:

What does it mean? What is a solid center who knows how to do his defensive duties?

It means your center need to have decent defensive abilities (aggression, defense) to play that tactic the best and wingers with good tech.

Ok, then take a look at my friendlies today and last thursday. I tried to examine is it worth to train defense to attackers and how much does it influence the defense rating of a single line.

Results? 0!!!

The 4th line had a defense rating 4 in both matches, when I had 5 guys with defense 1-2 in line, and when I put my representative defenseman to play as a center (the other 4 guys remained the same).

Training defense to attackers is a waste of points and a myth, and the guide is definitely misleading on this point. I only wonder how much of the "information" we know is also a myth...

At least instead of blindly following it you were innovative and tried something which is what the game should be about.

since you mentioned the guide, it also says: "The Goaltending, Defence and Offence indicators are based on attributes of players that played in these positions in the last game."

the "players that played in these positions" part sounds to me like only defenders influence the defence indicator and only forwards the offence indicator. but i'm probably misunderstanding it.

This is what is said in the Guide: “Every team has a different composition of player attributes and therefore a different style of play is suitable for each team. Therefore you need to find the right style of play that suits your team. A different style of play is suitable for a team with a weak goalie and brilliant forwards and vice versa for a team with a goalie star. “
