I have a couple externals. It just sucks because I will likely lose A LOT of my settings and custom programs and stuff I made. Not fun not fun. The kicker is I was going to buy a new computer a couple months ago and decided to wait until summer. Not good!
Yes, and if you could do a backup on some other external (which I never did by the way), maybe you could then save those settings...

Just get carbonite or mozy. 5 bucks a month, unlimited data backup to a cloud. Pretty simple.

Yeah just puts it all into the cloud - awesome service, not sure why they don't advertise it more. Carbonite also encrypts it, works like a charm I've been using it for awhile now.
