As we pass the third-way mark of the season, I thought it timely to run my ruler over the league and see how everyone's going.
Highlight of the season so far has been the Knights performance. They've played very well tactically and deserve to be in top spot. My only question mark is why they didn't try harder against Trueblue in the last game when they had a real chance to open a sizeable lead over the pack.
Trueblue are still the best team by far but, with his eyes on the champions league, he has allowed a couple of upsets and injected an air of excitement into the league.
Last season, Colah dropped a number of games they should have won but have been more solid this season and should finish in the top few.
Parra had a great start to the season but have faltered against stronger opposition in the past couple of weeks and unfortunately, they will probably slide a bit further down the table in the next few weeks. But, as the best placed of the promoted teams, they deserve credit.
FC Kangaroo have continued their impressive development and are a serious challenge to the second tier teams behind Trueblue.
Prestige have already played every tam in the top eight and scored more wins than losses so should be well placed to climb higher in the next couple of weeks.
Renamed are the last of the serious challengers for this season. Unfortunately, after a great season to finish second last year, they're suffering a second-season syndrome as their peers step up the effort against them.
The last team worth mentioning are lustyones. In only their second season, they are by far the youngest team in the top division and probably considered likely to finish second last. However, they have recorded strong results against the bottom half of the competition and are well placed to avoid relegation and build into a more formidable outfit over coming seasons.
My tip for the top 5 this year:
Trueblue
Knights
Colah
Prestige
Renamed
A very good summary, Crico. I must admit, my game vs the Knights i did play high importance to ensure the win as this adds intrigue and tightens up the ladder a bit. I'm in no rush to force wins for my lads as i know i could beat most teams and as you said, the CL is my focus rather than the league.
Yeh for my game vs Trueblue i knew he wouldnt want to lose two in a row and drift away from first spot haha, so i thought id save energy and hopefully have a good go later in the season when im at home vs him
For what it's worth, I'm interested too. My plan to make a difference at this stage is to abuse you lazy f@#$ers until you invest more in your facilities
