A bit of both. PPM make no secret of the fact that a strong midfield is key to a stronger team. My team is really built around my 4 core center midfielders (3 of them after this season). I have a great striker in Fields, so only opted for a single shooter up front.
I had home advantage and a better midfield at the end of the day, and realistically, that spot kick goal was a bonus, so it really was 1-0 which is a very close game.
I doubt i'll be able to repeat this performance in game 2 though.

I've lost count the number of matches I've lost in the 90th minute... there does seem to be an extraordinary amount of goals scored at the 45th or 90th minute of matches in this game.
Went down 1-0 last night to barbalicious

Oooh i hate those games! You have that happen a lot?
After a convincing 2-0 home victory last week in the Champions League the Stars traveled to Stadium Medina International to take on Taibah F.C. in the 2nd leg.
Opting for a defense heavy formation, the Stars rolled 4-5-1 with a midfield that commanded the game from the first minute.
In front of 42,400 fans the traveling Stars shut down Taibah F.C. to force a 0-0 draw, ending Taibah's Champions League run and putting the Stars through to the final 8.

You mean Trueblue United, not Brisbane Stars
Well done... As lowest ranked going into play-offs, does that mean you will always be up against the lowest seed left in the tournament. Tough draw!

Oh crap yeah, TBU. damn, too many teams. I have 2 Brissy Stars teams (PPM & HA) and only one TBU. LOL
Nope, i'll play the highest seeded team everytime it seems, but i'm not fussed. If i get knocked out in the next round i'll be ok with the result. Taking down Taibah was a HUGE task, so very pleased.

Wow, that's an excellent result, u must be very happy w/that! U already overstep ur shadow, u can't be disappointed any more.. u have nothing to loose, u can only earn more valuable honor (pts, etc)
and the Stars confusion, it is easy as ur concentrating goes more on hockey.. which I really like ((=
to BF: to be top seeded club to be the edge that could help TB to do even better.. sometimes it could be easy to underestimated..

happens to me few more times that I would appreciate it..
Thanks mate. I think the reason i managed to win was because i totally dominated the midfield, and that's the key to a strong victory

strategy could change a lot.. someone used to tell me.. I guess, u know who I'm talking about (=
LOL so true. My next opponent will be fun, and i might really change things up a little.
Tonights league game i'm playing a 3-4-3 formation, something i very rarely do. In fact, i don't think i've played a 3 D formation for well over a season. Should be interesting to see how the attack looks.

yep.. that's what I meant... the team seeded 1st being the lowest, the team seeded 16th being the highest.
TB united played the first leg of the CL (top 8) today, and came away with a slightly disappointed 1-0 victory. TBU dominated much of the game so would have liked a second goal to have been scored, but we take a 1-0 lead going into the 2nd leg which is played in a weeks time.
Once again, the 4-5-1 formation appeared to do well with the midfield completely shutting down any plays initiated by the opposition. Tim Fields was the only goal scorer of the game. Edwin Schofield played the final 30 minutes (his first CL appearance i believe) and did ok. Aus phenom striker, Kane Billington was a scratch for the game due to an unfortunate suspension.
Next game should see a full lineup and will one again have the Billignton / Field pairing lead the assault.
