Of course he is good. Look what team he came from originally! 
I know I have one. But that's about it. My GK will likely backup Yves Todd, however I believe I have a better training regime on my GKs and get more out of them per point trained. Add the fact he's one of the most experienced players in the game and Z. Pemberton is an easy candidate for 2nd GK.
He's 22 though...
And on a solid career path. Has another 3 seasons after this at 4/6. Still training around .8/day. I get what you're saying - however in reality he'd just be an insurance policy in the event Todd was hurt. Why everyone always hatin' on my players!?!?!
