To be honest I don't even want to promote. I know that it may sound kind of stupid but I just feel like it's better for me if I try to develop my team as much as I can and then like in the 5th season I'll attack

Getting rid of some of my players that I never play.

you will lose tons of money if you do not promote soon and D1 teams could be so far ahead making it more difficult.

D1 league next season will be extremely strong making it very hard for a D2 win a promotion match against D1 team. In 3 seasons it will not only be much harder but you will likely have a hard time to compete against the team that was relegated for the title.

I know many teams in soccer that have played in D2 for seasons and then easily promoted to D1. But sure you have a good point about the money.

I disagree about the money factor.

I'm making $3 million less than Tescosamoa this year in general sponsorship money. That's the equivalent of $187,500 a week. That's nothing.

Last season he was actually better than a middle of the pack Division 1 team (5th in the regular season and 6th in the playoffs), and I finished 3rd in the regular season in division III.4.

No division II team will ever be able to compete with the top 3-4 teams in division I when it comes to money. But the chances of advancing from division II and shooting straight to the top 3-4 of division I are not that good unless you have a sickeningly good team. It's more likely that you'll sit in the middle of the league (if you're lucky) or lose a bunch of games and face relegation. Neither of those scenarios are particularly advantageous in the long run when it comes to money.

With that said... I wouldn't be against promoting if by the end of the season it's in the cards. I definitely don't think I'd deliberately try not to promote if given the opportunity.

I just don't think that you can argue that money is the main reason to try to get into division I.

just check how well the D2 teams do when they promote ... Not true they cannot compete.

Babies won the title last season and got the best sponsor offer. babies is currently 4th

Salt Lake is 2nd and rowdies is 3rd. Emus is 7th

And there is Orlando who is establishing as a solid playoff team.

So.. that is why i say lose money. top D2 Teams on d1, currently, can make a run for the title in D1.

the longer it takes, the more the top 4 or so D1 teams will get stronger and when a D2 comes to D1 it will no longer come as contenders and thus earn big money.

D1 will also provide more fans, so should be easier to fill a big stadium and thus make more money with that

1. the big stadium is a moot point for the vast majority of managers at this point. That won't matter until at least season 5-6 for most teams. I'm the only one building a 2500 triple stand in my division this year. So by the time WasUpNerd is thinking about challenging, this probably will be fine.

2. While lots is still up in the air at this point, Babies is at a big disadvantage this season, because his team strength is the same or worse than all but 4 teams in division I. To stress this point, no team in division II.1 currently has a team strength better than division I's average. So it's absolutely NOT a given that teams that promote will automatically be competitors for the top 3-4 spots in the league. It's worked out that way the past couple of seasons, because the divisions were finding their equilibrium still. (For the record... 2 managers from the original division 1 are in division III now or worse).

I just flat out disagree that teams outside division I.1 are at a monetary disadvantage right now. If you look at the sponsorship deals of the top OTR teams in division II, I'd bet you that most of them are better than even the middle of the pack teams in division I.

Cant find it- Basically it broke down the current top 7 teams in Soccer and when they promoted. I promoted in season 7... I am consistently in the top 7 of Div 1 and play in international cups and have won the National Tourney.

It will not matter when we promote and money doesnt mean squat. What matters is having a good farm, a great stadium, and a good manager.

I agree with you on some points Runny, but I disagree when you say that "money doesn't mean squat."

Money definitely means something when you don't have enough of it. As you say, having a good farm and great stadium is essential... but you need money to get those... =/

With that said, it's interesting to see how people waste money. I see guys selling players on the market and then buying more a few days later... why? doesn't make any sense. If i had a deep enough team where I could sell players, I'd put the revenues right into building man...

I only got $112,000,000 (4 stars) from my general sponsor with the highest possible HR department while towards the bottom of the league. That was a raise of only 10-20 million from the first season (where I competed for the title).

It also matters how you spend the money. A team that focuses on the training facility and sports academy (especially at this point where fewer teams will do so) could be better in the short run. It's better to focus on the stadium in the long run, but it will take quite a while to earn back the investment, opportunity cost, and further investments and opportunity costs for upgrading the stadium.

In addition, at this point, the best teams are still largely affected by luck with the sports academies.

Within reason- You have to be smart with your money. Obviously you have to have money, but a lot of it doesnt make your team the best.

anyone elses academy saying that we get new players tomorrow? Thought it was Saturday?

Mine does, but I think it's starting to calculate the transition to Friday already.
