I too have my starters in a training camp until tomorrow. Stupid planning on my part. Here's hoping I can overcome an 0-2 start.
Dammit. I've had a busy few days. Didn't even realize that I was playing on Very mother effing High in the second half. I guess I forgot to change tactics after the playoffs. I did the same thing in game 1
So much for conserving energy for the freaking playoffs this season

Thanks for mentioning it though
Who knows how long that mess would have gone on

Did you forget the smiley face? Because I'll only be losing to the Coin Flips and Last Place McGees this season. With one crazy upset loss to the Las Vegas Locos.
I was wondering why you were playing a dead team on very high. I just figured you knew something that I didn't (or that you REALLY REALLY wanted to win those games bad).
For what it's worth, I haven't officially used any energy yet this season... My starting 11 have been in camp the past 2 games. I know there are another 3-5 teams in the same boat. Quadriplegics and I both had team ratings of 22 at the end of last season (before we started our camps and before seasonal energy was restored to our squads). Dooshnozzles has a rating of 21 right now and somehow squeezed out 2 wins so far even though he's had many of his guys in camp.
So for what it's worth, I think there might be some other freaky upsets coming your way this season. Especially with that early energy burn.

But if you want to look at those teams as your only competition, that's fine with me. I guess you like surprises haha.
I mean if you actually look at the team ratings (for what they're worth), coin flips may actually struggle to make the playoffs this year. He was 19 overall coming into this season (before he ran his camp - which ends today).
EDIT: sorry... hit reply to the wrong post

WAY TO GO... THOUGHT YOU WERE CALLIN ME OUT AND I WAS THROWING STUFF IN MY OFFICE....
bfgaskill. I don't think it was stupid planning at all. By leaving your camp until the end of the season like that, you were able to get the most out of your training facility (if you updated it throughout the course of your season 2).
Also, your guys only missed 2 (maybe 3) league games. Any time you run a training camp once the regular season starts your guys'll miss a minimum of 4. so you save a game or 2 there as well.
The only crap shoot is that you don't know what those first few matchups will be until the season starts. It sucks if your starters are out training, and you lose games you otherwise should have been able to win. But honestly, that's a risk you take any time you train when the competition is as decent as divisions I and II leagues are.

energy cost some teams in I.1 last season. Conserving it to the end cost them a playoff spot.

I think HSV took too long to start playing at higher intensity when he had players to compete. Then it was too late.
You didnt save energy and you did a great job maintaining the position. At first I thought you would not be able to and end up falling to 9th.
Babies not only did not save energy (although he didnt over used energy) and managed to stay in first and win the playoffs. That was an amazing job.
Some others didnt save energy felt out playoff like a rocket and ended up relegated.
Some didnt use energy, didnt make the playoffs but were healthier during the playoffs match-ups.
If I knew i could not win the playoffs, Id probably do somewhat similar than you did: play at higher intensity, make sure i am safe and then just cruise in the playoffs: if i win games, great, if not, not a big deal. At least Id have gained some OTR and thus more sponsor money.

I know from experience how hard it is to make up ground if you don't have the matchups. I think the best thing is to just use energy dynamically when it makes sense.
People who use a static/set amount of energy each game are at a disadvantage no matter what way they do it.
