I run 4 in friendlies and league matches that aren't overly tough. I use 3 in league matches that are important.
I always have younger guys who are training to be in the main team - I need to make sure that they have SOME chem and still gain a little XP without wasting their youth by playing them 24/7.
I think the key is to just get on every day and track all your numbers. Pick a plan and stick to it, just like damn near everything in life.

Youth are taking more training points than the older players.
Your youth train faster, but if you play them then they get less boost for the day so I like to when they're 6/6 really "grow" them by limiting their playing time and maximizing their training time.
ok I gotcha.
At first I thought you were referencing the theory that playing players makes their CL drop faster

i m playing 6 lines in a rotation system where there is a NR 1 formation whit the top 3 lines.
Nr 2 formation whit line 2 and 3 and 4
Nr 3 formation whit line 4 and 5 and 6
thei all have a rotationsytem in there formation but the lines stick together.
So igo the chance to play whit a got traind team agains weeker liga teams and whit better formation against better teams in cups or so.but importend is i dont change betwen the lines
Young players go in to line 5 and 6 till they got exp.
if possible i take the hole line up.

TB, have you ever considered the fact that rolling 3 lines can hurt your team in the 3rd period against a player that goes with 4 lines.
I only say that because you also need to account for your current energy with games. I fully agree rolling 3 line is great to maximize your top players but only for the first 2 periods. By the 3rd period your players are at a disadvantage (in my opinion).
Let say your opponent goes with a 4-4-3 to your 3-3-3. 1st period all current energy is the same. 2nd period your guys now have spent more time on the ice but are more tired. 3rd period comes along and you are not in the lead or dont have a big lead on your opponet then what. I would have to say the advantage is in your opponents favor to either come back and tie the game or even get the go ahead goal.
I tend to go with a 4-4-3 or even a 4-3-3 against my opponents that like to play 3-3-3. In hopes that I can either keep the game tied by the 3rd period so that I can use the current energy to my advantage. Also lets not forget that my top line players will then also train a little better by having that 4th line in since current energy is better then only rolling 3 lines.
I wasnt sure if you ever looked at it like that. I know you are one who tends to look at a situation from multiple sides. (I've read alot of the posts you tend to put up)

What you've said above is correct, but not for the moment. In second part of the season players' energy influence will be more visible !

The guide clearly states that with 3 lines players will get more tired.
The question would be how much of an affect it really is.
Last season I lost my first game with 3 lines, then didn't lose again till the playoffs. Then playing high importance with three lines quite a few times, I made an improbable run to the conference finals and win in the promotion round.
Now granted I saved up my energy pretty well by playing low most of the season, but I would say rolling 3 lines was a huge part of me winning promotion.

Are you thinking about season or current energy when you say it is visible at the second part of the season. I know that players that are 90/90 vs players 80/80 the 90/90 is better off near the end of a season but that is seaonsal energy.
What I'm talking about is your current in game energy. During your current match by the 3rd period a 3 line team vs a 4 line team your energy will look like this (these numbers are not exact but a guess) 78/99 vs 85/99. Which of the two would u guess has an advantage in the game. Now I could be wrong as I dont know how the game engine accounts for current energy in a game but when you game is over and you look at your players the energy loss is different when you go with 3 lines vs 4. Even if you go with a 4-4-3 or 4-3-3 you can see a differnece in your own players.

I guess you and I will have a great time testing this out in a few hours since we play each other today. GL by the way.
haha I didn't even think about that. Good luck to you as well.
My statement of course was pure personal experience, not any proclamation as to what is better.
I've been mixing it up this season between 4 and 3 lines mostly because I have a crop of players I'm trying to build up.

I just let the opponents tendencies dictate how I counter or overpower them.
Pick their poison and I oblige.
