14 point difference in OTS is difficult (not impossible) to overcome. We will have to keep it low scoring, play great defense, and hope for some breaks with a generous home field advantage.

Brady Woodcock was the first star in a losing effort.
All in all, a pretty good defensive effort against a superior team. Too many fouls and turnovers, and poor shooting from outside the arc were the biggest problems. Tomorrow against Croatia will probably be our last shot at a win, considering we never expected to get this far. A loss tomorrow will likely mean it's time to look towards developing for next season.

Next season's team appears to be of about the same calibre as this season. This means lots of good training will be necessary, and more than a little bit of luck to qualify for the final tournament. Pitter patter.

Damm I sold Makins to a bad team. Sad but I hope it won't affect U19 too much since he was really ahead.

Not that bad .
He has level 12 training with coaches at 200 and 180.
Physio at level 10 with coaches at 200 and 200.
It could be worse.
At 19, it's his last season at this level and shouldn't affect him too much.
It may however affect his senior team qualifications.

A somewhat underwhelming showing in the pre-tournamet. We did win one game though. The whole time was spent trying to develop additional/alternate tactical experiences to broaden our ability to attack/defend from more than one position. Now that the tournament is starting, we will go with the tactics that have given us the best results. Once again, we are the underdogs and will have to use our meagre resources to the fullest to qualify. Keep building those academies, and hiring highly qualified staff, and one day we will be the favourite. GO CANADA.

A very disappointing loss indeed !!
After the two "big boys" fouled out near the end of the 3rd quarter,fresh subs came in to eliminate the 11 point deficit by holding the opposition to just 6 points while scoring 17, 2 of which were free throws at the final buzzer to send the game into overtime. That's when the magic ended.
Poor shooting overall was the culprit in this one !
This loss puts us into the "well-nigh-impossible" category as far as qualification goes.
More than a really solid effort for the remainding games will be needed to qualify this season.

Once again , we are without doubt the underdog of the group. We will be switching now to players who will still qualify for U19 next season to help them gain valuable experience and chemistry. Thanks again for your support this season ! Keep up the good work you are doing in training your players in the attributes that will serve them best at their positions. Any time you can play them as a regular in your line-up, without hurting your teams chances of winning, will help them next season.

Canada 99...Poland 102 in the overtime.
WE played VH all game...they played Normal for the first half and High for the second.
A little surprised it was that close even under those circumstances. Our U19 team is now about the same calibre as the good U17 teams. Gonna have to start including HGH in their daily diet.
On a lighter note, even though Canadian SG Gendron was the first star, 3rd string centre Hooper put on a one-man-shooting-show scoring 7 of the 10 points in the overtime. Clearly this team of 18 yr. olds is pushing for better results next season.

All in all, not a bad showing for a team of all 18 year olds who were 8 point underdogs in the team strength department. Cause for hope in next year's World Cup.
