It's because there is pretty much only 4 teams with good OTR in Canada and you're one of them. If you look at the OTR standing, 5th and 6th are from D2 and the rest of the D1 can't keep succes for multiple consecutive seasons.
I think playoff top 4 has been Hooligans, Sith, Racers and me for over a year (if you don't count GoldFish)

Wait what? I had it set to VH for these games. I've been on travel and haven't been able to check my teams that much. Hadn't noticed if I was playing lower importance. I have both "Playoff" and "Promo/Releg" set to VH all game in planning. What the hell is placement if it isn't one of them!?!?! Is it league? That's B/S if it is!
If I relegate I'll ditch my core and go younger. Or at least play my core just enough to win.

The reason for that is in the low amount of bball teams in Canada. I play a team from Slovakia in CL and i get alot more OTR then beating a team from Denmark with equal OTR. It would of course always help if some other Canadian teams had success internationally in order to raise to average OTR in div 1. That being said its easier said than done as ive mentioned the disadvantage compared to most other teams in international competition.
I believe it's "league" simply because it is NOT "playoff" or "promo/relegation". You do not want to relegate !! I did it last year because of the disparity between A and B. All the teams that moved up were in B as was Gold Fish who quit. With Hooligans, Sith, and Les Aigles in my division by the time I was soon mathematically not eligible to make the playoffs. I figured to win the placement, but one of those "unexplained" freak losses left me one point short. Then in the relegation round, my tired team drew a team that had gone undefeated in division II with almost no energy loss. Gone to II.3. I had no trouble filling my 7,500 seat arena at $250, but I suspect you would have trouble filling 20,000 especially if you dump many of your "popular" players. This has been a VERY BORING season since my third stringers could easily win games by 60-80 points. I am absolutely thrilled to be going back to I.I !!!! grateful as I am for the easy OTR gain,I look forward to REAL competition in the upcoming season and the challenges it will bring.
I bet it is league. Relegation round (as opposed to Promotion/Relegation) seems to function just like a mini-league season. I don't know, I don't have pro-pack.
You got a 49 OTR team to face. I can't see you losing your series unless you did it on purpose.

Yeah, those two losses I had in divison two were annoying but I just couldn't top Reflex!
I had pretty much played every game on low or very low and shot three pointers for laughs all season.

Trying different strategies and tactics in II.3 was almost pointless because you could win no matter what you did differently. Hardly educational. Even playing instant challenges was not educational because my team was too well rested for accurate results. New tactics are best proven by wins over superior equal energy teams.
This is what happens when people complain that Team A lost to Team B when Team B is weaker than Team A. PPM makes an engine where upsets rarely happen. So 60 OTS team beats 58 OTS team 80% of the time.
"That's why they play the games" would not be an expression if the favoured team always won AND; underdogs would always be losers. These same underdogs would "bitch" if they could never upset the favourite.
That's life! You can do everything right and still come out on the short end. Get used to it!!!! And you whiners stop crying........it waters down the beer!!
