not really the case of elder scrolls. there is always a group doing stuff in the server. so far i never came to play at a scheduled time. just showed up and enjoyed each time.

and i agree about having to be at specific time. that is why i quit web games as kingdoms of camelot and the other i cant even remember the name as it was brutal . had to often set alarm clock in the middle of night to prevent they killing my troops.

server cost money in a daily basis. it is very understandable they want to charge it.

what perhaps you want is they open for anyone to run a private server and thus not to have a subscription if playing not on their server. but them, it is harder to prevent people from using bots/scripts/cheats.

who cares? bots/scripts/cheats... who cares? It's not my cup of tea, but if other people are that motivated to cheat and ruin the game for themselves, then who cares if they do it?

God dammit... i remember NES and game genie. If you wanted to cheat you could. If you didn't, you didn't have to. It was the player's choice.

I'm so tired of gaming companies deciding what's best for gamers. Why not put it out there and let the gamers decide what they want for a change? That's how it used to be... and that's why most mainstream games (and all console games) suck these days.

cheating when it is a single game is one thing. cheating when it is online PvP is a different category.
so in ppm if i somehow foud a way to always pull 500 OR 5* categories, and train my players at daily rate of 5.0 wouldn't you care?

when one is playing against NPC it does not matter at all, but when playing against real people it does for sure

so, how would you feel when u get into the game and your opponent is already 100x better than you, never dies or lose stamina. unfair

the whole reason why i always wanted ppm to allow even the new managers to be more competitive and have a fair chance to win a D1 without having to wait for all teams to fold.

I haven't paid more then $15 for a game in quite a while. Steam sales + free games have given me quite a backlog. No, I don't get to play brand new games (unless they're free-to-play), but then, when I do get around to them, all the problems are usually fixed and there's lots of mods as well.

For example, I'll probably finally get around to grabbing Skyrim during the next sale in a couple of months. There's a plethora of mods for it now, so not only will I get to play it cheaper than early adopters, I'll probably get to have a much better experience, too!

yeah i just recently got Skyrim. that is why i mentioned i have plenty of offline single player rpg to play. even its huge was a bargain at walmart $10 but i ended up not buying it.

i will probably only play first month of elder scrolls and then wait till it gets non subscription to continue.

i usually buy used games too specially on consoles as i dont really care playing when it launches.

however, when it comes to online alliance versus alliance i think it is very different starting from day one. A $20 off helped a lot my decision to buy elder scrolls and i dont regret at all as i am having tons of fun.

I don't know what "online PVP" game youre talking about, but I know of very few of them (LOL, DOTA, etc.).

Not only that, but pretty much EVERY mmo that i've heard of is actually not an "online PVP" game. They're pvm games with an added pvp element thrown in there because for some stupid reason, every game needs to have that now.

If pvp is required, then yeah... some safeguards should be in place to prevent cheating and such (as in PPM, LOL, and DOTA). If pvp isn't required to complete the game, then make it a stand-alone, regulated mode (to prevent cheating), and let normal players do whatever the heck they want in the normal game mode.

I mean seriously... that's like saying to strategy gamers, "we're no longer going to allow you to use map editors because you could cheat when playing online." No... just make it so that you can't use custom maps in online play, and let people do whatever the f* they want by themselves or with their friends.

There's wayyyy to much hand-holding these days in video games (you have to play the game like this, because this is how we designed it).

Maybe I sound cynical (i probably am), but i remember when there were great games. I mean seriously, can anyone who played the early final fantasy games (1-10) honestly say that the series is better for being online? Does the story benefit when you have a million other heroes that'll save the world if you don't? It's such a joke.

Games used to make the player feel important. Like they were an integral part of the equation. The game literally would not function without you. The story wouldn't progress. YOU WERE THE HERO. MMOs do the opposite of that. You're not there? Oh well, we didn't miss you. You weren't there to complete that quest? Oh well, someone else took care of it.

What's the point? Not only that, but no matter who you are, or how good your character is, there's always going to be someone else who's better. If someone else is better, how can you even pretend to yourself that you're the hero the world depends on?

i think the majority of people who bought elder scrolls online did for the PvP or should i say Alliance versus Alliance part.

I dont think one would regulate on PvE but if cheating is used on PvP im pretty sure there would be a ban if found out.

that is why id say id like to see they allowing private server so in those one can set the rules and do whatever they want (and also pay for hosting the servers)

yeah, but few games even allow LAN play anymore. I can't imagine that they'd allow private servers.

although i dont like shooting i am almost tempted to go try metal gear online. that game sounds pretty fun and they made a hack to play it in private servers.

when they release their new online version in 2015 i might try it too.

only shooting games I've ever really gotten into were deus ex (if you can really call it a shooting game) and unreal tournament.

I'm not twitchy enough to be good at most of the games in that genre.

yeah but it was like a strategy/shooting game. it is 2 teams. players can get invisible. one team has weapons and the other dont (other than knifes i think). then they rotate. when i saw the video i was like OMG, that sounds fun. much more than just run and shoot!!!

Bulls, does EOS have that hateful mouse control like Skyrim? That really is what has me holding off on EOS.

LOL, i guess. that is why i didnt want to buy neither. I wanted to buy it for PS4 but then didnt want to wait till june to play.

I am horrible at using mouse specially since i am not a hardcore gamer and dont even have a mouse. I use touchpad from my keyboard!!!!

Dont even know how i can survive battles rofl. Last night i was looking at mmo mouses and might buy one. probably goiong to buy the razor naga to complemen my Razor Star Wars keyboard.

Have you guys seen the info about the new Civilization game? It looks pretty sweet.
