Why are shootout goals counted in GF/GA? For example, if I lose 2-1 there should be 1 GF and 1 GA in my team stats NOT 1 GF and 2 GA. A shootout winning goal is merely a formality and should not be counted towards GF/GA.

GF/GA are counted in team stats for the shootout, but not in individual player stats are per NHL rules.
Well, there is 1 goal accounted for in the team stats. If you lose the shootout 3-2 (aka Team A scored 3 shootout goals and Team B only scored 2), then there is 1 additional GF for Team A and 1 additional GA for Team B
I'm aware. But there shouldn't be. The shootout should only be for pts not for team goal differential. I've given up 10 goals but my GA is 12 thanks to two SOLs.
As a team or as a player?
The Shootout goal should count towards team differential, not player differential.
That's just how it works. It gives the advantage to the team that wins the game incase of a +/- tiebreaker is needed.

That's my point. It shouldn't be influential on a tie-breaker. It is nothing more than an "extra point". I know that's how it is in the NHL - but my beef is with the system, not PPM in general.
I think that there should be a differential.
You won the game, you deserve the extra goal.
How can you explain when one team has a W, the other has an L (OTL if you want to get technical), but both have the same GF and GA?
In reality they should just get rid of the shootout and go back to ties or reduced numbers overtime. How long do you think a 1-on-1 will stay tied for?

Hahaha that reminds me of minor hockey tournaments
.

I loved those tournaments.
If the NHL is concerned with time, make the numbers drop every 4-5 minutes. 1-on-1s would be practically nothing but breakaways.

Could you imagine? It'd be a complete gong-show. I doubt it would make it past 2-on-2. And 5min/drop would still leave 20min OT. Would have to be 2min or so and start with 4 on 4 or make it 3min and start 3 on 3. OT should be 3 on 3 in the NHL. Get rid of all these damn shootouts.
Here Here!
At least in a 1-on-1 there would be some backchecking pressure to stop some of these stupid dekes. Imagine a guy trying to do a spin-o-rama, getting decked, and then a pure breakaway the other way.
I'd love to see that.

Haha they'd get so gassed... the bway the other way, the guy would skate to the bench, hop off, then have a teammate go the rest of the way with fresh legs in case he has to back check.
Even so, the new guy would get the break away. I just want to see it happen. It would be so exciting.
90%+ sv.%, on the road. Who knows. Don't waste time thinking "why"... all-stars and team of the day are hard to explain at times.
