But nowadays that possibilty already exists.
You have 3 positions for midfielders and 2 for defs and atts.
Offensive is when you put your player one position forward in the field.
Deffensive one position backwards.

It all depends on the strength of your team. 4-1-2-1-2 is my favorite (that's 4 midfielders - 2 side mid, 1 attacking mid and 1 defensive mid).
Absolutely, too weak in the midfield.
For people who want a very basic formation, 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 is my suggestion.

Yeah 4-4-2 diamond is really nice, easy to change by making OMC to CF making it 4-3-3 or making the dmc CD to a 5-3-2
but could be weak at the flanks... sometimes offensive LD i RD aren't enough...
I have created tons of chances this season with L+R and using central flanks.. dont know how but sure works
if your taking advantage of your rival mistakes, maybe

IMO, there is only one superior formation here. 3-5-2. You get as much posession as you can get, have enough attacking power, and solid defence. If evenly matched teams play 10 games (3-5-2 vs 4-4-2), i think that score would be something like 8:2.
While in theory you could be correct, in reality it simply isn't like that.
If i knew you were playing that, I would match it with a 5-4-1 formation of my own, and i can all but guarantee you'd not get past my stellar defense.

Well, in that case, if the players are identical, it would be like, my team took possession, and created more chances... and it would be, my 2 CFs vs your 5 defs and your one CF vs my 3 defs. Would bet on my team with my eyes closed.
