Marcel Rodman (#22) has been a regular on the Slovenian national team since the turn of the century. He's been a big part of the rise of the Slovenian hockey in the last decade. He was a member of the team that earned Slovenia its first ever promotion to the World Championship Top Division as an independent nation in 2001. At the 2002 World Championship he accomplished a truly historic feat by scoring a goal in each of the 6 games that Slovenia played in. He was second only to the gold medal winning Peter Bondra in the tournament goal scoring. Marcel started with hockey at the age of 5. He went through the Jesenice youth program and left for Canada when he was 16. In Canada he played for the Pickering Panthers and then 2 seasons for the Peterborough Petes in the OHL. In 2001 he was drafted by the Boston Bruins as 282nd overall in the NHL Entry Draft. In 2013 he helped Slovenia qualify for the first time in history for the Winter Olympics. Slovenia finished in an incredible 7th place at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi after beating Slovakia and Austria. He spent most of his professional career in Slovenian and Austrian clubs sharing time between Acroni Jesenice, Graz 99ers and Vienna Capitals. He also played for Krefeld Pinguine (DEL) and Bietigheim Steelers (second German league). He is currently playing for Schwenninger Wild Wings in the top German league. |
David Rodman (#12) had his first taste of top level international hockey at the 2005 World Championship in Austria. Since then he has played at every major event that Slovenia has participated in. David started playing hockey when he was 4 years old. Like his brother, he is a product of the Jesenice youth system. When he was 17, he decided to leave his homeland and try his luck in Canada where he joined the Val d'Or Foreurs of the QMJHL. In 2013 he helped Slovenia qualify for the first time in history for the Winter Olympics. David was the top scorer of the whole qualification tournament. In three games he scored 4 goals and added 2 assists. Slovenia finished in an incredible 7th place at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi after beating Slovakia and Austria. David played the tournament on the first line alongside Anže Kopitar and Jan Muršak. After 2 seasons he came back to Europe and made a career in the Austrian league playing for Linz Black Wings, Acroni Jesenice and Vienna Capitals. He spent one season in the second tier German league playing for Bietigheim Steelers and currently he plays in the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan for IK Oskarshamn. |
