Really great job.
I think it would be good for PPM team to take a look at PK efficiency trend.
If there is lowering trend of efficiency - then it will take more then just some small adjustments (because it will be lowering again).

But will be much closer to reality, less penalties, but less frustration as they will be more precisely executed.
The main problem here is that PPM took the statistics from MLS (probably just because statistics from other leagues are pretty hard to find) and tendency shows that when quality of football is lower than penalty efficiency is also lower but penalty frequency is higher (that's the current case in MLS and in PPM too). And we are more recognized by more quality football like leagues of Italy, England, Spain, Germany, France, Champions League and thus that part of the game should be updated to match reality...

Why do you compare the world's best footballers with newbie ppm players? Compared the ppm players should have an OR of several thousand then. Imho it would make more sense to get stats of the 6th, 7th league level of a big football country maybe and then compare, to get proper numbers.
I'm pretty sure that no one will find those stats. Simply, as they don't exist. If You just want to know, PPM doesn't also take statistics from lower leagues (as I already said coz they don't exists) but from MLS and EPL.
When I see penalties in real life, the better the person shoots, the higher the probability to score. The abilities of the goalkeeper will get better as well on higher leagues, but for saving there is a big luck factor necessary (which doesn't change with ability), while for shooting there is almost just the shooting ability factor (including shooting, technique, whatever) and not much fixed luck factor.
So how is it calculated here? Does the engine just take the 70% probability into account, no matter how good the goalie or striker is?
Or can the accuracy/probability to score get better over time, when the strikers get better? Then it's useless to discuss this right now. If there really is just one value set for scoring or not scoring, then it's different and I'm all for raising it, as more goals are always good in football.
But I have no clue how it works at all. Is it written down somewhere that the statistics were taken from MLS for example? I haven't read that so far. (Which doesn't mean this doesn't exist, because I haven't read everything there is probably)

I applaud at your work and diligence. I myself have done a lot of research on this for PPM. I found it very hard to find statistics.
Having said that, you cannot compare the efficiency of these upstarts at PPM to the pros in the worlds best leagues. As players improve they will hit the net more often and their efficiency will go up. We had this in mind when setting the parameters for penalty kicks.
Maybe we can do something about the frequency of penalties though.

You mean decrease them? My team tends to give up lots of PK chances

Looking at my research I must say that Canada I.1 division steps out of margins when compare to other leagues. I will not give you some examples:
Number of penalties (data collected from 20 leagues ordered my average rating:
Max number: Canada I.1 118
Min number: Germany I.1 72
Average number: 93
Quite impressive difference, isn't it?
Max efficiency: Germany 57 out of 72 (79%)
Min efficiency: Ukraine 66 out of 106 (62%)
Average efficiency: 70%
Big difference, huh? Could be normal, coz 319 matches is still low number to draw some conclusions...

If this is the case, like Vlady said, than it's OK, I agree with You.
Vlady said in news chat (last season when some update to number of penalties, free kicks and corners occured) that the statistics are taken from MLS and EPL.
If You don't believe to my words, than probably Vlady can confirm that, again.

If this is so, than everything about penalty efficiency is OK. hey will increase in time, and you should also think about it that it never goes more than 80% when player hit great numbers (skills).
Also, as you said that, than goalkeepers which will also improve, just like shooters improve, have much less impact on penalties than shooters? I mean, this is almost correct as in real football, apart than in real football you have some keepers which were a great penalty stoppers (I remember well Goicoechea from Argentina in WC Italy 90, and of course Chilavert who had so strong reflexes that he wait for shooter to see in which side he will shoot and than try to stop the penalty, rather than pick the side before the shooter opts to shoot).

Interesting. I think a lot of teams in Canada play aggressive... which will cause more fouls. Much thanks for this info!
I never tough in that direction, but it seems logical...
