I guess and hope it's more subtle than that. In some range around an optimal value, you're OK but if you come too far from balance, you get some penalty...
This theory is not a new one. It has been this way in hockey, so i guess its the same in soccer
We have reason to believe that the system does in fact work in a way like this, although to what extent nobody knows. For this reason, the ratios we choose is vital, especially that nobody knows what the best ratios are.
ok, that to me, as someone who doesn't play hockey, is a complete surprise. I was under the impression that you could create individuals, but now it seems we all create the same player.
No more extra speed and technique training to create fast wingers with dribbling skill and thus create more chances..
No more heading training to optimize their defensive skills for free kicks.
All I will do is train the main skill, at least then I know my players will use all their skills optimally. There is no use in training a skill for which you aren't sure whether you are doing it for nothing.

Wingers already have extra speed comparing to central midfielders right ?
And yes, you should train all your players according to guide and using correct ratio for attributes.

how should we know this? Because of the colour scheme when we give the player his role? Because it is written in the rules?
As far as we know, the extra speed could be 1%. A greater influence of speed for a winger role, doesn't necessarily mean that the influence is less for a midfielder. It could also mean that the other skills are less important and that it thus looks that way.

Imo, that's just bollocks. What kind of choices does that leave us? We cannot make technical forwards. or fast forwards, or head-strong forwards, or high speed wingers, technical wingers, great crossing wingers, etc. We are all forced to create the same kind of players and the only difference is made up by whether you chose the correct ratio's or not.

I am not agree with you here.
'Because of the colour scheme when we give the player his role? Because it is written in the rules?'
As someone said, the guide is made for helping ppl and not mislead them.

Don't forget that secondary attributes percentage is not a fixed value, it's a range of values. Let's take the example of a winger. If you train him to the highest value of speed range, he will be that faster winger you wish for; if you train him on his lower value from that range, he can become a more technique winger... I hope you understood what I meant to say.

Primary atty has to be balanced, like secondaries. If you only train primary you'll get same penalties you want to avoid
I dont belive they make the engine in such a way that if speed has 75% importance and everything above is a waste, more likely to be a peak in performance around the best value and then declining in relative terms since training higher then say 75% means you give up training in the mainskill or other secondarys
Does someone train defense for the MID players?
Is any use to have a MID with high DEF (say 70MID 40-50DEF) to play as defensive-MID?

Yes. I train Def on all players. Especially mids who I want to play in the rear of the midfield boxes.
yes, i do that.
I specifically train my center midfielders as either midfield attack or midfield defense.
