What's the best counter tactic against breaking?

I can't see why he would. You've only used Breaking in 1 game this season. In fact, against you using Defensive would be the best plan, for 3 reasons.

1) You've played 4 games with Offensive, and Def is the perfect counter.
2) You've played Defensive tactic twice, so by going Def it would be an even strength battle of teams
3) You've played counter tactic twice, and Def has an average win% of just over 50% Vs counter, so Def is still the better tactic.

Not a good way to pick your tactic !

From my point of view, there are 3 (let's say 4) kind of hockey managers:
1.Managers that never change their tactic (very easy to beat)
2.Managers that think they know tactics and counter tactics ... but in reality, they don't (very hard to beat, because you can not anticipate what they are playing)
3.Managers that really knows counter tactics (if you have some inspiration you can pick correct tactic)
[4.Managers that think that tactic must be choosed based on their players' attributes (and play just one or 2 tactics)]

I know almost all managers from my country, I know who has good knowledges about tactics and who doesn't....and that's why, this season I've never been caught on counter tactic.
What you wrote above is somehow wrong 'cause I don't follow a certain tactic...(I always think from my opponent point of view)

I think most of people have missed how to choose right tactic. You should play based on your players' attributes and you can choose counter tactic that suits you.

few examples:
- you need forwards with defence ability when using defensive tactic
- you need defenders with attacking ability when using offensive tactic
- you need center with defence ability when using counter attacks

...I could tell more, but it's all in the guide.

And if you don't have the abilities that selected tactic requires, your tactic isn't effective enough.

Yes, but also no. 3. I know counter tactics, but I don't use always counter tactic, if tactic doesn't suit for my team.

A mixture of 3. kind and 4. kind is usually filed under 2
