I was bored stiff. Likely that and bitter at Gillis destroying the Canucks. Signing Sedins long-term for big bucks and shipping both Lou and Schneider away with nothing to show for it.
I feel like the Islanders. Rather, 90% as bad as the Islanders.

Do you think Gillis has to go? I really don't know what he was thinking there. Although I guess the Lou trade had to happen because both sides had their relationship break apart. I think all you can do is wait to see if Markstrom can play better behind much better defensemen in Vancouver. And I don't know if Matthias will improve the team much. I actually think they could've received more than they did for Lou.
I also think they could've received more for Schneider, but I guess Horvat is going to be a really good one. And yeah, the Isles have looked like clowns this season. Such a devastating season after what looked to be a promising future since that playoff stint last season.

That's my point. If you're going to move Lou, why move CS? If you're going to move CS and Lou, you damn well better get more than a C-level prospect, B-level goalie prospect and first rounder.
Yeah. It just looks deflating even from a standpoint of a neutral hockey fan.
Markstrom has played excellent in every level except the NHL, and the Canucks' defense is ridiculously better than the Panthers. Just wait and see I guess.

They also have 14M tied up in D&H Sedin during their 34-37 years. Plus Burrows at 4.5M/year during 33-35 years (0G 5A in 32GP this season). Real smart...
Ouch.. Do the rest of the Canucks fans have the same view as you? I wonder if this is it for Gillis.
Sedins and Burrows were a good line. I'm just of the mindset you don't pay anyone elite money well into their upper 30s. That's just foolish. (I.e. Sundin for 10M/year was even more insane, glad that fell into a 5M/half-year otherwise Kesler and Edler wouldn't have been re-signed due to lack of cap space - another brilliant move Gillis!)
At the same time, you need to show them due respect for all they've done and in doing so not trade them. Tough call. But they're making the most they've ever made at the oldest part of their career.
