A 3-1 loss to Sweden today leaves us in second spot behind Poland, but we should still advance to the final eight playoff round. Then....it depends largely on seeded placement.

Plenty of bad luck for Team Canada. Poor game by the Dutch against Austria, but that's the least annoying, in my view. Sweden, against Canada they had the first (and the only one in this WC) game up to their potential. Vs Poland, 6 goals on 12 shots? Even against a bot team, 50% would be quite an achievement.
All considering, it just wasn't supposed to be.
Sim owes you a lot, Bobby Jay. I hope next season it will all balance out for you.

Luckily, all of the above is complete and utter nonsense, because I was simply under a wrong impression, that only top 2 teams advance

Our 6-3 loss to Poland did not keep us from moving into the final eight playoff. A win today would move us into the final four, and one step closer to moving back up to the Top division!!

A 3-2 win over Brazil today puts us into the final four!! Next up, Poland, who in the past has been our nemesis!! No fear!!

After our second loss in this tournament to Poland (2-4) yesterday, we beat Italy 4-2 today, and will probably finish 4th in Division I this season. Four of the last 5 seasons, we have made the final eight playoff only to lose our shot at going back up to the Top Division in the semi-final match!!! These have been above average finishes for our team strength!! We have already begun to prepare for next season, and I thank you all for your training efforts!! That training, and a little luck, will give us a good shot next season of another shot at the Top Division!!

The senior team starts the World Championships, with a game one win, 3-2 over the United Kingdom.

A 2-1 win over Spain today puts us into the semi-finals against Italy!! If we can win this game, and move on to the finals, it should mean we go back up to the top division!!!!

Damn!!! A 4-2 loss to Italy today is going to keep us down in division one again next season!!
